 tig. \n\n»Winterträume« heißt die 1. Sinfonie dieses russischen Kompon
 isten\, der wie kaum ein Zweiter die Kunst des großen melodiösen Bogens 
 beherrschte. Sie steht noch immer im Schatten der drei späten Tschaikowsk
 y-Sinfonien\, doch völlig zu Unrecht. Denn sie hat alles\, was eine roman
 tische Sinfonie braucht: Sie ist bildhaft\, warm im Klang\, emotional\, un
 d auch der für Tschaikowsky typische Walzer fehlt nicht. Eine Sinfonie\, 
 gemacht für einen Winterabend – und in diesem Programm ebenso winterlic
 h-vorweihnachtlich eingestimmt durch zwei barocke Concerti von Corelli und
  Albinoni. In Letzterem können die beiden Solo-Oboisten des hr-Sinfonieor
 chesters gemeinsam glänzen\, während quasi ein Kollege von ihnen am Pult
  steht: Vilmantas Kaliunas\, in Vilnius geborener Wahl-Hamburger\, war sel
 bst einst in gleicher Position bei der Deutschen Radiophilharmonie aktiv\,
  bevor er ins Dirigierfach wechselte. »Ich suche stets nach Lebensenergie
  in der Musik«\, sagt Vilmantas Kaliunas – in diesem Winterprogramm kan

 lear. \n \n»Winter Dreams« is the title of the First Symphony by this Ru
 ssian composer\, who mastered the art of the grand melodic arc like no oth
 er. It still stands in the shadow of Tchaikovsky’s three late symphonies
 \, but completely unjustly so. For it has everything a Romantic symphony n
 eeds: it is evocative\, warm in tone\, emotional\, and even the waltz so t
 ypical of Tchaikovsky is present. A symphony made for a winter evening—a
 nd in this program\, set in a similarly wintry\, pre-Christmas mood by two
  Baroque concertos by Corelli and Albinoni. In the latter\, the two princi
 pal oboists of the hr Symphony Orchestra can shine together\, while a coll
 eague of theirs\, so to speak\, stands at the podium: Vilmantas Kaliunas\,
  a Vilnius native who now calls Hamburg home\, once held the same position
  with the German Radio Philharmonic before switching to conducting. »I’
