 jure winding cyclones of distortion that simultaneously soothe and electri
 fy. The trio’s ever-expanding palette of lush\, yet unapologetically bit
 ing soundscapes\, has rendered guitarist/vocalist Jessie Szegö\, bassist 
 Naomi Kei\, and drummer Ten Bears hypnotic masters of both the calm and th
 e storm.\n\nThe band’s latest full-length album Magnolia saw the group f
 urther hone its signature nineties-infused riffs\, dynamic songwriting\, a
 nd rumbling grooves. The result is raw and eclectic\, each song reckoning 
 with themes of self-reflection and resilience\, whose crescendos could jus
 t as easily thunder into eruption as coil into textured mosaics of verdant
  medleys. Recent releases such as the contemplative and cheeky First Place
  EP and singles Ladybug and My Misery is Mine indicate the band is not jus
 t in bloom\, but yet again blossoming into another vibrant phase.\n\nEver-
 moving\, the trio is set to embark on its first tour across Europe this au
 tumn\, following tours with Austin natives Die Spitz and Montreal’s No J
 oy last fall\, as well as a schedule of incessant gigging. With over four 
 years of steadfast evolution and ever-sharpening prowess\, Flowers for the
  Dead is showing no signs of wilting anytime soon.\n\n\\*\\*\\*\n\nMusic M

 ton\, D.C.–based four-piece have carved a distinct space within the city
 ’s underground\, pairing the jagged energy of deathrock and post-punk wi
 th the melodic precision of classic alternative. Their forthcoming album\,
  Where the Earth Has Teeth\, arrives in early 2026\, preceded by the first
  single “Disappointing\,” out December 5th.\n\nFormed out of D.C.’s 
 tight-knit DIY circuit\, Cryptid Summer’s members had long orbited one a
 nother in various local projects before coalescing around a shared obsessi
 on with the elegance and unease of bands like Siouxsie and the Banshees\, 
 The Cure\, and Joy Division. What began as a one-off Cure tribute set at S
 lash Run in early 2020 has since evolved into a band fluent in both the th
 eatricality of goth and the emotional bite of grunge. The group—Lizz Maz
 er (vocals)\, Carni Klirs (guitar)\, Zach Wall (bass)\, and Eileen O’Gra
 dy (drums)—turn those influences inward\, crafting songs that balance me
 lancholy with momentum and atmosphere with clarity.\n\nWith Where the Eart
 h Has Teeth\, Cryptid Summer sharpen their sound into something unmistakab
 ly their own: haunted yet immediate\, literate yet visceral. It’s an alb
