SUMMARY:Driven Serious / A Different Thread (HULL)
LOCATION:Hull The New Adelphi Club
DESCRIPTION:- This is an equal\, double headlining date at the historic an
d iconic New Adelphi Club in Hull. DRIVEN SERIOUSDriven Serious is without
a doubt one of the most engaging\, energetic\, original live folk-rock ba
nds around in the UK today\, Based in the North-East around Newcastle and
Durham\,Driven Serious new album: "Look On These Works is an incredibly en
gaging listen\, whether it’s the monumental sounding strings that carry
us through this adventure\, or the war-like drums at the start of the titl
e track\, it’s an impressive experience." - NarcDriven Serious performan
ce: " I suppose you could file Driven Serious under the banner of folk-roc
k\; but they are so much more than that. They have a vibrancy that you can
virtually see thrumming off them when they play\, passionate and with the
hand-brake well and truly off\, and with a vibe that has had people liken
ing them to The Levellers to The Pogues to The Smiths to The Wonderstuff"
 – The CrackA DIFFERENT THREADSome things are just meant to be. Alicia Be
st (US) and Robert Jackson (UK) met while busking on the cobbled streets o
f Ireland and discovered both a musical and personal harmony that was sere
ndipitous. In the decade since forming A Different Thread\, Best and Jacks
on have taken their act on the road\, touring over a dozen countries\, sup
porting artists such as Milk Carton Kids and Jody Stephens (Big Star)\, an
d garnering critical praise from the likes of Folk Radio UK\, which hailed
the duo as “warm\, deep songwriters that have drank from the well of 20
th century tradition.”Their new album\, Over Again\, was written during
a period of transition\, marked by their arrival stateside and a solar ecl
ipse. Recording began in their tiny home studio\, continued in Sylvan Esso
 's Betty's (The Mountain Goats\, Watchhouse)\, and finished at Alma Vale S
tudio (Phantom Limb/Yola\, Elles Bailey) in the UK. Their sound is transco
ntinental\, blending Jackson's British folk rock background with Best's No
rth Carolina-bred alt-country melodies. Informed by their life experiences
(navigating visas\, vanlife\, love across oceans) and liberal commentary
on both environmental and social justice topics\, the album mixes electric
guitars with Appalachian dulcimer\, gospel-tinged vocals with honky-tonk
fiddle. While inspired by artists like Gillian Welch\, The Avett Brothers\
, and John Prine\, A Different Thread maintain a distinct sound that is al
l their own. Alicia and Robert see the creation of Over Again as a testame
nt to the power that music has to heal and transform: “For us\, this alb
um marks a new beginning—like a rebirth—as we shed negative cycles to
 work towards a brighter future.”\n\nBoletos: https://wegottickets.com/ev
