Join facilitator Omar\, on behalf of GAG (Gay Arab Gr oup)*\, for a grounded\, facilitated salon diving deep into the lived expe riences of gay and queer Arab men - exploring identity\, expression\, and belonging beyond Western gazes.The session will open with 2-3 short pre-re corded video provocations: filmed questions put to the panel by diverse fi gures from across our wider community. These provocations will raise core questions surrounding Arab masculinity and takhneeth (effeminacy/queerness ) in Arab culture\, grounding the conversation in authentic cultural nuanc e and lived reality.Rather than simply speaking to each other\, the panel will respond directly to real\, submitted questions and discussion points gathered directly from the community in the weeks leading up to the event. This creates a truly collaborative and responsive space to unpack the com plexities of gender\, cultural expectations\, and desire together.Whether you want to listen\, reflect\, or engage with these vital community conver sations\, come through for an insightful and powerful afternoon. He is the Foun der and General Director of MOSAIC and the founder and Regional Advocacy L ead of the Qawsuna Initiative. He also co-founded the Consortium for Inter sectional Justice (CIJ)\, a UK-registered charity and international expert network promoting democratic governance\, civic space\, and business and human rights. Dr. Maydaa serves as Senior Advocacy Advisor to the Afghanis tan LGBTIQ+ Organization (ALO) and is a Senior Visiting Fellow at the Leba nese American University\, where his research focuses on masculinity\, sex uality\, migration\, and displacement.https://qawsuna.org/*⁠GAG (Gay Ara b Group) is a UK-based community for gay and queer Arab men\, bringing tog ether several hundred members across the UK diaspora.
