  Stiftung und M+\, in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Geoffrey Bawa Trust.\n\nMit e
 iner über fünfzig Jahre währenden Schaffenszeit und mehr als 200 realis
 ierten Projekten zählt Geoffrey Bawa (1919–2003) zu den einflussreichst
 en Architekten Asiens des 20. Jahrhunderts. Sein Werk verbindet die Prinzi
 pien des Modernismus auf einzigartige Weise mit regionalen und traditionel
 len Elementen und entwickelt so eine unverwechselbare Architektursprache\,
  die sensibel auf den Ort\, lokale Materialien und kulturelle Identitäten
  reagiert. Bawas Oeuvre prägte die Architektur des postkolonialen Sri Lan
 ka nachhaltig und umfasst Hotels\, Privathäuser\, Schulen\, Universitäte
 n\, Fabriken\, Bürogebäude sowie das Parlamentsgebäude des Landes. Heut
 e wird sein Ansatz weltweit neu entdeckt und dient als inspirierendes Vorb
 ild für sozial und ökologisch nachhaltiges Bauen.\n\nIm Herbst 2026 prä
 sentieren das Vitra Design Museum und M+ Hongkong in Zusammenarbeit mit de
 m Geoffrey Bawa Trust die erste umfassende Retrospektive zu Bawa seit zwei
  Jahrzehnten. Die Ausstellung beleuchtet zentrale Leitmotive seines Schaff
 ens – von interdisziplinärer Zusammenarbeit sowie ökologischem\, sozia
 lem und kulturellem Engagement bis hin zu gestalterischen Formensprache\, 
 die seine Architektur unverwechselbar prägt. Eine außergewöhnlich umfan
 greiche Auswahl an Zeichnungen\, Modellen\, Möbeln\, Fotografien und Film
 en macht die sinnliche Atmosphäre von Bawas Vermächtnis spürbar und bet

 ve decades and over 200 projects\, Geoffrey Bawa (1919-2003) counts as one
  of the most influential 20th-century architects in Asia. His work blends 
 the principles of Modernism with vernacular and traditional elements to fo
 rm a distinctive architectural language that responds sensitively to conte
 xt\, to local materials cultural identities. Bawa’s remarkable oeuvre sh
 aped the architecture of postcolonial Sri Lanka\, and includes hotels\, pr
 ivate residences\, schools\, universities\, factories\, office buildings\,
  and the country’s parliament. Today\, his approach is being rediscovere
 d worldwide as a guiding inspiration for socially and ecologically sustain
 able building practice.\n\nIn 2026\, the Vitra Design Museum and M+ Hong K
 ong in collaboration with the Geoffrey Bawa Trust\, will present the first
  major retrospective on Bawa in two decades. The exhibition foregrounds re
 curring themes in his work from interdisciplinary collaboration and ecolog
 ical\, social and cultural engagement to the formal qualities that define 
 his architecture. Through an unprecedented wealth of drawings\, models\, f
 urniture\, photographs\, and films\, it brings to life the captivating\, s
