DESCRIPTION:Every second Monday of the month\, 7-10pm Join us on the secon
 d Monday of every month\, 7-10pm\, for our new Monday Multilingual Mingle\
 , a relaxed evening for language lovers and curious conversationalists ali
 ke. This is a space to unwind\, connect and chat in any language you choos
 e. English is welcome\, of course\, but we especially encourage the use of
  other languages\, whether it’s one you miss speaking\, one you’re lea
 rning or one you simply want to practice.Please note: this isn’t a langu
 age lesson\, just a friendly\, informal space to meet new people\, practic
 e conversation and celebrate linguistic diversity.Two multilingual booksel
 lers (who speak English\, French\, Spanish and Mandarin) will be around to
  answer questions\, suggest fun language games and point you towards the f
 ew but growing non-English books in our collection.We always welcome donat
 ions\, but during this event we especially encourage book donations in non
 -English languages. You’re welcome to drop in at any time between 7 and 
 10pm and stay for as long (or as little) as you like.As always\, nobody tu
 rned away for lack of funds. This event is eligible for TPL Patreon PassCO
 MING NEXT - Monday 14th September Special Edition: the DEF of Translation.
  This is the second in the Special Edition series\, following “the ABC o
 f Translation” in August.In this workshop\, we will explore what is left
  unheard in translation—the sounds\, voices\, and tones that go astray\,
  slipping through the interstices of the translation process. We will begi
 n by sharing some examples\, followed by collective activities that experi
 ment with errant acts of translation\, with elements of the outcome coales
 cing into a zine.We'll need a bit more information from you\, and invite y
 ou to bring along some text materials (optional). Please register early (b
 y Friday\, 11 September) to give us time to prepare.The workshop holds spa
 ce for many languages. All are welcome\, whatever tongues you bring.FACILI
 TATORStephanie Chung is a curator from Hong Kong\, currently based in Lond
 on. This series of workshops is developed from her ongoing research in lan
 guage politics. She previously ran a similar workshop as part of Refrains 
 on the Edge of Appearance\, an exhibition at outhouse gallery\, curated by
  Charmaine Wah. She has delivered projects with organisations including De
 ptford X\, Chisenhale Studios\, and Cubitt Artists\, and was a Curatorial
