 n Beethoven’s Fidelio and Wagner’s first success\, Rienzi and is consi
 dered the first German Romantic Opera. The opera integrates German folklor
 e and folk music but contains glorious arias and ensemble pieces that are 
 famous as concert pieces as well as competition pieces in top-end Eisteddf
 ods. True to its folk origins\, it is a dark tale of a young forester who 
 finds himself\, unknowingly\, in league with the Devil as he attempts to w
 in a shooting contest so as to earn his girlfriend's hand in marriage. \nT
 his production will be taken to Victoria for German Week and offered in ur
 ban and near regional South Australia as well. The main roles/performers w
 ill be Livia Brash [Agathe]\, Robert Macfarlane [Max] and Eugene Raggio  [
