M.Sc - Forest Lavoie Conseil M. Gilbert Lavoie jouit d’une expérience de plus de 35 ans dans le secteur agroalimentaire. Depuis 2008\, à titre d’économiste chez F orest Lavoie Conseil\, il se spécialise dans les analyses économiques et financières\, l’analyse et la diffusion d’information sur les march és\, les planifications stratégiques\, le coaching\, la concertation ent re les parties prenantes et la réalisation d’expertise professionnelle. M. Lavoie et son équipe ont accompagné la filière veau et la filière bœuf dans la réalisation de leurs planifications stratégiques respectiv es. De plus\, au cours de la dernière année\, il a piloté trois études portant sur l’environnement d’affaires actuel\, sur les enjeux de com pétitivité et les avenues de solutions pour les quatre secteurs de produ ction que sont le veau d’embouche\, le bouvillon d’abattage\, le veau laitier et le veau lourd (veau de grain et veau de lait). Since 2008\, he has been an economist with Forest Lavoie Conseil\, where he specialize s in economic and financial analysis\, market information analysis and dis semination\, strategic planning\, coaching\, collaboration among stakehold ers\, and providing technical expertise. With his team\, Mr. Lavoie has gu ided the beef and veal sectors through their respective strategic planning processes. In the past year\, he has also piloted three studies on the cu rrent business environment\, competitiveness issues\, and potential soluti ons for the four production sectors: feeder calves\, fed cattle\, dairy ca lves\, and heavy veal (i.e.\, grain-fed veal and milk-fed veal). Au sein du Groupe Bouffard\, il participe à l’exploitation d’une ferme comptant près de 2 000 têtes de bovins de boucherie\, ce qui inclut des vaches-veaux\, des sujets de reproduction et des bovins d’engraissement\, d’un abatto ir sous inspection provinciale ainsi que de trois boucheries spécialisée s connus sous le nom Face de Bœuf. Mr. Jean‑Sébastien Bouffard is a fa rmer and stakeholder in the Quebec cattle industry. He is involved in an i ntegrated family business that controls its entire production chain\, from production to retail. Within Groupe Bouffard\, he helps operate a number of entities: a farm with nearly 2\,000 head of beef cattle (including cow- calf\, breeding stock\, and feeder cattle)\, a provincially inspected abat toir\, and three specialty butcher’s shops under the Face de Boeuf banne r. Arnaud Marchand - Chez Boulay M. Arnaud Marchand est un chef et entrepr eneur établi à Québec\, reconnu pour son engagement envers les produits du terroir québécois. Mr. Arnaud Marchand is a chef and entrepreneur base d in Quebec City known for his commitment to local Quebec products. He is the chef/co-owner of Chez Boulay\, Le Bedeau\, Les Botanistes\, L’Épice rie Québécoise\, and VériTable. Mr. Marchand’s initiatives showcase m ade-in-Quebec flavours and the work of local producers. He is a major play er in Quebec’s gastronomy scene\, having helped fuel its expansion both at home and abroad for over 15 years. Murray Gillies - Santé Animale Cana da Dr Murray Gillies a grandi dans la ferme laitière familiale à Sussex\ , au Nouveau-Brunswick. Il a obtenu son diplôme de l’Atlantic Veterinar y College en 2011 et a occupé divers postes\, notamment dans un cabinet s pécialisé en médecine laitière en Nouvelle-Zélande\, au sein du servi ce vétérinaire de terrain du gouvernement du Nouveau-Brunswick et en tan t que vétérinaire chargé des services techniques chez Vetoquinol Animal Health. M. Murray a été président de l’Association canadienne des v étérinaires bovins (CABV) et directeur du district 12 de l’American As sociation of Bovine Practitioners (AABP). Il poursuit actuellement un mast er en gestion de la santé animale à l’Atlantic Veterinary College\, av ec un projet axé sur l’utilisation des antimicrobiens dans les exploita tions laitières\, et a été l’expert en matière de production laitiè re pour l’Initiative vétérinaire pour l’usage judicieux des antimicr obiens (IVUJA) de l’Association canadienne des médecins vétérinaires en 2018 et 2022. M. Murray adore discuter de la pratique vétérinaire lai tière\, de la médecine vétérinaire bovine et de la science en généra l. Il s'intéresse également aux jeux vidéo\, aux animés\, à la nature \, à la randonnée et à l'histoire. Dr. Murray Gillies grew up on his fa mily’s dairy farm in Sussex\, New Brunswick. He graduated from Atlantic Veterinary College in 2011 and went on to work in various positions\, incl uding a small company specializing in dairy medicine in New Zealand\, the Government of New Brunswick’s veterinary field service\, and Vetoquinol Animal Health\, where he was a technical services veterinarian. Dr. Gillie s has served as president of the Canadian Association of Bovine Veterinari ans (CABV) and director of District 12 of the American Association of Bovi ne Practitioners (AABP). He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in a nimal health management at Atlantic Veterinary College\, where his study p roject deals with the use of antimicrobials on dairy farms. Dr. Gillies se rved as the dairy production expert for the Stewardship of Antimicrobials by Veterinarians Initiative (SAVI) of the Canadian Veterinary Medical Asso ciation (CVMA) in 2018 and 2022. Dr. Gillies loves to talk about dairy vet erinary practice\, bovine veterinary medicine\, and science in general. Hi s other interests include video games\, anime\, nature\, hiking\, and hist ory. Kim Stanford PhD - Université de Lethbridge Après une enfance pass ée à la ferme familiale dans le sud de l’Alberta où l’on produisait des bovins\, Kim Stanford a développé une passion pour la recherche en production animale. Son diplôme en poche\, elle a entamé une carrière d e chercheuse dans le domaine agricole en rejoignant Alberta Agriculture. E lle a d’abord été spécialiste des ovins\, puis s’est concentrée su r la sécurité alimentaire dans les fermes\, se spécialisant dans l’é levage bovin. Après plus de 30 ans de carrière au sein du gouvernement d e l’Alberta et une réorganisation administrative complexe\, on lui a of fert — à sa grande surprise — un poste de professeure agrégée à l ’Université de Lethbridge. À l’université\, elle a créé le balado « Cows on the Planet » pour fournir une analyse équilibrée des probl ématiques entourant l’industrie bovine. Elle poursuit ses recherches su r la sécurité alimentaire et la sécurité des aliments pour animaux\, s e concentrant sur les coproduits et les aliments alternatifs pour les bovi ns. After being raised around cattle on the family mixed farm in southern Alberta and a little bit of schooling in between\, Kim worked as a researc h scientist with Alberta Agriculture first as a Sheep Scientist before sta rting her work with on-farm food safety and specializing in beef cattle.Af ter a career of more than 30 years with the Alberta Government and some mu rky government reorganization\, somewhat to her surprise she found herself at the University of Lethbridge as an Associate Professor. At the Univers ity\, she started the “Cows on the Planet” podcast to provide balanced information on beef-related issues and has continued her research in food safety and feed safety of byproducts and non-traditional feeds. Cindy Jat on\, agr.\, MBA\, PhD - Lactanet Cindy Jaton est directrice de la généti que et de la traçabilité chez Lactanet. Elle œuvre depuis plus de 15 an s dans le domaine de la génétique bovine laitière. Titulaire d'un MBA e t d'un doctorat en génétique et amélioration animale\, Cindy combine un e expertise scientifique et une vision stratégique pour soutenir le progr ès génétique et l'utilisation des données au bénéfice de l'industrie laitière canadienne. Elle a grandi sur une ferme laitière et partage au jourd'hui sa vie avec son conjoint\, également producteur laitier\, et le urs trois filles. Cette réalité lui permet de garder un lien étroit ave c les enjeux du secteur et les besoins des producteurs. Cindy Jaton is dir ector of genetics and traceability at Lactanet. She has worked in the fiel d of dairy cattle genetics for over 15 years. Ms. Jaton holds an MBA and a doctoral degree in animal improvement. She combines her scientific expert ise and strategic vision to support genetic progress and data use to benef it Canada’s dairy industry. She grew up on a dairy farm and now shares h er life with her spouse\, also a dairy farmer\, and their three daughters.
