DESCRIPTION:A ceremony to remember the 40+ men hanged for sodomy in England
  between 1800 and 1835\, the youngest aged 16. Horsemonger Lane Gaol\, whe
 re Newington Gardens now is\, was the site of two such executions\, in 180
 9 and 1833\, while a third man slit his own throat there with a penknife t
 o escape the same fate. The last two to be executed in England\, James Pra
 tt and John Smith\, were held here in 1835 for three weeks before being wa
 lked in chains to the Old Bailey\, for trial and execution at Newgate.On S
 un 27th September at 2.15pm we will be remembering all our dead on the sit
 e of the gaol\, telling the story\, laying a wreath and lighting candles.
