DESCRIPTION:The Yummy Fur were an indie rock band from Glasgow\, formed in 
 1992\, and disbanded 1999.\n\nThe band was centered around lead singer and
  guitarist John McKeown\, with a regularly changing lineup of other musici
 ans. McKeown has since gone on to form the band 1990s.\n\nTheir name was t
 aken from the comic book Yummy Fur by Chester Brown.\n\nAfter leaving the 
 band in 1997\, Lawrence Worthington would drum for both The Male Nurse and
  The Fall-influenced art punk band The Country Teasers. Two future members
  of internationally successful Glasgow indie band Franz Ferdinand played i
 n The Yummy Fur - drummer Paul Thomson who joined the band in 1997\, and m
 ulti-instrumentalist Alex Kapranos (who was going by his birth name of Ale
 x Kapranos Huntley at the time)\, who joined in 1998.\n\nThe band were lau
 ded by BBC Radio 1 DJ John Peel recording two Peel Sessions in 1995 and 19
 98. On November 23\, 2009\, it was announced that McKeown and Thomson woul
 d reunite The Yummy Fur for a brief tour of the United States in January 2
 010 to support a greatest hits compilation due in late January. A further 
 report from NME confirmed the involvement of long-time Yummy Fur guitarist
