EETHOVENPiano Concerto No.5 in Eb major Op.73\, EmperorPAUL DUKAS
Symphony in C majorThis programme brings together three monumental works o
f the German and French orchestral traditions\, combining drama\, virtuosi
ty\, and symphonic brilliance. We open with Carl Maria von Weber’s electr
ifying Der Freischütz Overture\, one of the defining works of early Germa
n Romanticism. Drawing upon themes from the opera itself\, the overture mo
ves from shadowy mystery and supernatural tension to triumphant brilliance
\, capturing the atmosphere of folklore\, drama\, and the hunt. Weber’s
vivid orchestration and theatrical imagination paved the way for later Rom
antic composers\, including Richard Wagner. We are delighted to welcome int
ernationally renowned pianist Francesco Attesti for Ludwig van Beethoven
’s majestic Piano Concerto No. 5 in E-flat major\, Op. 73\, the celebrat
ed 'Emperor' Concerto. Grand in scale yet deeply lyrical\, the concerto re
presents Beethoven at the height of his creative powers\, combining heroic
brilliance\, serenity\, and exuberance in one of the supreme masterpieces
of the piano repertoire. The concert concludes with Paul Dukas’s Symphon
y in C major\, a towering achievement of French symphonic writing. Best kn
own for The Sorcerer’s Apprentice\, Dukas reveals remarkable structural
mastery\, rhythmic vitality\, and sumptuous orchestral colour in a work of
sweeping energy and brilliance.Join us for an evening of heroic grandeur\
, Romantic drama\, and orchestral splendour.Shaun Matthew In partnership w
