The show forms part of the Corner Hotel's own 30th anniversary celebratio ns\, with both milestones landing on the same night - a coincidence the ba nd say feels entirely fitting for a room with such a deep connection to Au stralian live music. Despite decades of history across Melbourne's live ci rcuit\, this will mark the first time the four have performed together at the Corner Hotel as The Engine Room. The Engine Room will be joined across the night by a handpicked lineup of special guest vocalists\, each bringi ng their own voice and interpretation to songs drawn from Human Frailty an d the broader Hunters & Collectors catalogue. The guest lineup will remain a surprise\, revealed only on the night. The birth of The Engine Room tra ces back to a sold-out charity show in Castlemaine earlier this year\, whe n the core members of the band reunited to raise funds after bushfires in January 2026 devastated Harcourt\, the Central Victorian community\, and w here Doug Falconer's brewery\, which lost 80% of its stock and most of its packaging. Joined on the night by special guest Paul Dempsey from Somethi ng for Kate\, the response from the room made clear just how powerfully th ese songs still resonate - and set the wheels in motion for a bigger celeb ration. “Human Frailty was just such a great bunch of songs to work on - they suited what we did so well\,” says Jack Howard. “It’s still a bit of a shock listening back to it. This isn’t just seeing another band playing Hunters songs - it’s seeing the actual band play them.” “Th e four of us played together as a unit for a long\, long time – our job was to always serve the songs by finding the right energy\,” explains Ba rry Palmer. “The songs we are playing are classics\, so the job of The E ngine Room is to walk on stage and nail that energy.” Released in 1986\, Human Frailty is widely regarded as one of the most significant Australia n albums of all time\, its songs having become woven into the fabric of Au stralian live music across four decades.
