 an im Konzertsaal begegnen kann: Die »Auferstehungssinfonie« – ein Wer
 k der Überwältigung\, das alle Register zieht\, in Sachen Ausdruck wie a
 uch Materialeinsatz. \nSopran- und Altsolo\, ein großer Chor\, Orgel\, Ha
 rfen\, umfangreiches Schlagwerk\, und aus der Ferne noch eine zweite Orche
 stergruppe mit Hörnern\, Trompeten\, Pauken und Perkussion – da ist ein
  Dirigent gefragt\, der den Klang aufbaut wie ein Architekt. Der Schweizer
  Philippe Jordan ist hier die erste Wahl\, er versteht sich auf Struktur u
 nd Balance\, aber auch auf das Loslassen im richtigen Moment. »Ekstase ja
 \, aber immer kontrolliert«\, so beschrieb er sein Mahler-Dirigieren einm
 al in einem Interview. »Als Dirigent muss man sich davor hüten\, ihn zu 
 sehr zu genießen.« Zusammen mit der 1. Sinfonie\, die Susanna Mälkki we
 nige Wochen zuvor präsentiert\, beleuchtet diese »Zweite« Mahlers »Auf
 bruch ins Unerhörte«: das frühe sinfonische Schaffen eines Komponisten
 \, der dieser Gattung Räume erschloss\, die sich vorzustellen vor ihm kei
 ner wagte. \n\nKonzerteinführung: 19 Uhr\nKonzertdauer: ca. 90 Minuten  
 – ohne Pause!\n___________\n\nIt is one of the most large-scale\, powerf
 ul and breathtaking symphonies that can be heard in a concert hall: the »
 Resurrection Symphony« – an overwhelming work that pulls out all the st
 ops in terms of both expression and use of material.\nSoprano and alto sol
 os\, a large choir\, organ\, harps\, extensive percussion\, and in the dis
 tance a second orchestra group with horns\, trumpets\, timpani\, and percu
 ssion – this calls for a conductor who can build the sound like an archi
 tect. Swiss conductor Philippe Jordan is the first choice here\; he unders
 tands structure and balance\, but also knows when to let go at the right m
 oment. »Ecstasy\, yes\, but always controlled«\, is how he once describe
 d his Mahler conducting in an interview. »As a conductor\, you have to be
  careful not to enjoy it too much.« Together with the First Symphony\, wh
 ich Susanna Mälkki presents a few weeks earlier\, this »Second« illumin
 ates Mahler's »departure into the unheard-of«: the early symphonic work 
 of a composer who opened up spaces in this genre that no one before him da
