Zwei jener »Meis terquintette« – beide »in G« – bilden das Programm in diesem Kammer konzert: ein untypisch »dunkler« Mozart und ein Brahms-Spätwerk von üb erraschend sonnigem Gemüt.\n\nMit Mozarts g-Moll-Quintett präsentieren v ier im Beringia Quartett vereinte Musiker*innen des hr-Sinfonieorchesters gemeinsam mit ihrem Kollegen Dashiel Nesbitt eines der ergreifendsten Kamm ermusikwerke der Wiener Klassik\, das durch seinen außergewöhnlich ernst en Tonfall besticht. Eine teils geradezu schmerzliche Expressivität\, dra matische Kontraste und eine gesteigerte emotionale Intensität prägen die Komposition über weite Strecken\, bevor sie – in starkem Kontrast dazu – im Finale überschwänglich heiter ausklingt. An diese Stimmung knüp ft Brahms’ 2. Streichquintett an\, mit dem der in Hamburg geborene und ( wie auch Mozart) in Wien gestorbene Romantiker nach eigenen Angaben eigent lich sein Œuvre abzuschließen gedachte. Mozarts Vorbild folgend entschie d sich Brahms bei der klanglichen Erweiterung des Streichquartetts für di e Hinzunahme einer zweiten Bratsche\, während andere hierfür stattdessen ein zweites Cello oder einen Kontrabass ins Ensemble integrierten. Brahms ’ G-Dur-Quintett strahlt eine gelassene Reife und Abgeklärtheit aus\; e s vereint kraftvolle\, geradezu sinfonisch anmutende Themen\, lyrische Pas sagen von leichter Melancholie und tänzerische Ausgelassenheit – nicht zuletzt im ungarisch gefärbten Schlusssatz.\n\nKonzertdauer: ca. 100 Minu ten – inklusive Pause\n___________\n\nDespite the relatively small numb er of works for five strings\, there are\, by comparison\, a surprising nu mber of outstanding compositions in this genre. Two of these »master quin tets« – both »in G« – make up the programme for this chamber concer t: an atypically »dark« Mozart and a late work by Brahms of a surprising ly sunny disposition.\n\nWith Mozart’s G minor Quintet\, four musicians from the Frankfurt Radio Symphony\, united in the Beringia Quartet\, toget her with their colleague Dashiel Nesbitt\, present one of the most moving chamber music works of the Viennese Classical period\, which captivates wi th its exceptionally sombre tone. An expressiveness that is at times almos t painful\, dramatic contrasts and heightened emotional intensity characte rise the composition for long stretches\, before – in stark contrast – it concludes exuberantly cheerfully in the finale. Brahms’s String Quin tet No. 2 builds on this mood\; the Romantic composer\, who was born in Ha mburg and (like Mozart) died in Vienna\, intended\, in his own words\, to conclude his oeuvre with this work. Following Mozart’s example\, Brahms opted to expand the string quartet’s sound by adding a second viola\, wh ilst others chose instead to integrate a second cello or a double bass int o the ensemble.
