In doing so\, Justin Cober (guitar\, synthesizers\, bass\, vocals) an d John Talbot (drums\, percussion) create a unique sound where “towering monoliths of roaring riffs crash against swarms of restless rhythms” (P op Matters). Since forming in 2016\, they have released two full-lengths\, three EPs\, as well as a handful of singles\, whilst also touring extensi vely in Canada\, the United States and Europe.\nYoo Doo Right’s first tw o EPs—Nobody Panicked and Everybody Got On (2016) and EP2 (2017)—serve d to introduce the band’s signature bombastic approach to psychedelia\, while their 7” split (2020) with legendary Japanese experimental titans\ , Acid Mothers Temple\, proposed a more motorik feel. Don’t Think You Ca n Escape Your Purpose (2021) further established their positively undefina ble sound with Paste Magazine describing this first full-length as “some times vigorous and verging on total collapse and sometimes delicate and me asured\, [...] a gift that never stops giving.” About A Murmur\, Boundle ss to the East (2022)\, their Polaris long-listed sophomore long-player\, Flood Magazine writes: “The post-everything krautrockers’ sophomore al bum is a towering release fit for nebulous contemplation and feelings of f oreboding astral projection.” For the production of these inspired if ch allenging works\, Yoo Doo Right turned to visionary artists such as Radwan Ghazi Moumneh (Suuns\, Ought\, Fly Pan Am)\, Seth Manchester (Battles\, L ightning Bolt\, Lingua Ignota)\, Efrim Menuck (GY!BE\, Thee Silver Mt. Zio n Memorial Orchestra\, All Hands_Make Light)\, Guillaume Chiasson (Bon Enf ant\, Ponctuation\, Jesuslesfilles)\, Sébastien Fournier (Avec le Soleil sortant de sa bouche\, Panopticon Eyelids\, No Negative)\, and Braids’ A ustin Tufts and Taylor Smith\, while also visiting pristine studios includ ing Hotel2Tango and Breakglass.\nIn light of this\, The Sacred Fuck EP (20 24) was a departure from previous endeavors with the Montréal group exper imenting with found-sound\, field recordings and sonic collage\, momentari ly straying away from the high-decibel musical juggernauts we’ve growned accustomed to. That same year\, the Montréal outfit visited Seth Manches ter at Machines with Magnets in Pawtucket\, RI to record their third full- length album. From the Heights of Our Pastureland (2024)—their second al bum to make the Polaris Music Prize Long List—is yet another solemn and defiant entry in Yoo Doo Right’s rich music catalogue\, an honest and pa tient sonic poem about the destructive process of unbridled expansion in t he name of "progress"\, the inevitable collapse and what it means to rebui ld. More recently\, the experimental rockers teamed up with multi-instrume ntalist virtuoso\, Nolan Potter (Austin\, TX)\, and psychedelic rock trio Population II (Montréal\, QC) to record a one-of-a-kind long-player meshi ng elements from krautrock\, free jazz\, and noise. Yoo II avec Nolan Pott er (2025) was an impromptu meeting of like minds\, recorded during a two-h our session in one small room. The Austin Chronicle desc ribes the band’s live performance as “a gargantuan bash\, its instrume ntals loud and distorted enough to collapse upon themselves in a chain rea ction of musical mass.” Hoping to share their music with as many communi ties as possible\, the three-piece never shy away from touring opportuniti es\, which led to multiple stints in Canada\, the United States and Europe \, and well over 200 dates to this day.
