  globe.\n\nHanna Notte is the director of the Eurasia Nonproliferation Pro
 gram at the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies. She is also 
 a senior associate (non-resident) with the Center for Strategic and Intern
 ational Studies and with the Kennan Institute. Notte's expertise is in Rus
 sia's foreign and security policy. She holds a doctorate and Master's degr
 ee in international relations from Oxford University and a BA in social an
 d political sciences from Cambridge University. During her doctoral studie
 s\, she was a visiting researcher with the Institute of Oriental Studies o
 f the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Carnegie Moscow Center. Based in
  Berlin\, she regularly writes for outlets such as the Financial Times\, F
 oreign Affairs\, the New York Times\, and ZEIT\, among others. \n\nSteven 
 Erlanger is the Chief Diplomatic Correspondent of The New York Times\, now
  based in Berlin after six years in Brussels\, from August 2017. He was bu
 reau chief of The New York Times in London\, Paris and Jerusalem und serve
 d as Berlin bureau chief\, bureau chief for Central Europe and the Balkans
 \, based in Prague\, and chief diplomatic correspondent\, based in Washing
 ton. From 1991 to 1995\, he was posted in Moscow. In addition to other pre
 stigious awards\, he shared the 2017 Pulitzer Prize for International Repo
 rting for a series on Russia and shared another for Explanatory Reporting 
 for a series on Al Qaeda awarded in 2002. In 2013\, France made him a chev
 alier of the Légion d’Honneur. Steven was graduated from Harvard Colleg
 e in 1974 and studied Russian at St. Antony's College\, Oxford. \n\nJoshua
  Yaffa is a contributing writer for The New Yorker. He is also the author 
 of "Between Two Fires: Truth\, Ambition\, and Compromise in Putin’s Russ
 ia"\, which won the Orwell Prize in 2021. He has also written for the Econ
 omist\, The New York Times Magazine\, National Geographic\, Bloomberg Busi
 nessweek\, The New Republic\, and Foreign Affairs. For his work in Russia\
 , he has been named a fellow at New America\, a recipient of the American 
 Academy’s Berlin Prize\, and a finalist for the Livingston Award. He hol
 ds a bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University’s Edmund A. Walsh Sc
 hool of Foreign Service\, and  master’s degrees in journalism and intern
