 ut. Fail. Carry on. On Friday 2 October 2026\, the Trial & Error DIY Music
  Lab returns to the MusikZentrum Hannover – under the theme ‘Music & V
 isuals’. From 3 pm to 11 pm that afternoon and evening\, everything will
  revolve around music and its visualisation: hands-on\, practialand with e
 xperts who will share their knowledge directly. \nAs usual\, the programme
  is aimed at geeks\, musicians\, nerds\, Freaks and artists with a desire 
 to experiment and get stuck in. The DIY ethos that has always characterise
 d Trial & Error– trying things out\, failing\, carrying on\, rather than
  waiting for the perfect equipment or budget – also runs through the Lab
 : four workshops in the afternoon will provide practical tools for visuals
 \, video and experimental sound\, before the evening culminates in an audi
 ovisual concert.\n\nThe workshops\n\n1. TouchDesigner 101 – a brief intr
 oduction to VJing with AVHS (4.00 pm to 7.00 pm)\nKicking things off is th
 e Berlin-based artist and VJ AVHS. Known for her colourful\, expressive st
 yle\, she uses playful tools – from Xbox controllers to graphics tablets
  – to transform music into vibrant\, interactive real-time visuals. In t
 his workshop\, she’ll introduce participants to the TouchDesigner progra
 mme and help them take their first steps in the world of live visuals and 
 VJing.\n\n2. No-Budget Music Video – free tools\, Tips & tricks for cont
 ent & video creation (3.00 pm to 6.00 pm)\nVery few artists have the finan
 cial resources for a professional video production. Emi and Luca\, who bet
 ween them have over ten years’ professional experience in this field\, w
 ill share tips\, tricks and free tools for achieving professional results 
 in content creation and music videos – even with absolutely no budget.\n
 \n3. Audiovisual Live Performance in Ableton Live with Otis Clark (4.00 pm
  to 7.00 pm)\nOtis Clark\, still known to some as Clockwerk\, will provide
  a practical insight into the development and execution of a fully audiovi
 sual live performance using Ableton Live in this workshop. The session beg
 ins with a short performance\, which will be used to explain the technical
 \, musical and creative aspects of the set step by step. The focus is less
  on presenting individual tools in isolation and more on how they interact
  within a performable system as a whole.\nThis workshop is organised in co
 llaboration with SAE\, which is a partner of the Music Lab this year – a
 ccordingly\, it will take place on SAE’s premises at the Marstall.\n\n4.
  The Mixer as an Instrument – Exploring No-Input Techniques for Sound & 
 Rhythm with lifeisfeedback (5.00 pm to 7.00 pm)\nA brief introduction to t
 he concept of no-input mixing\, in which feedback loops\, EQ\, Volume and 
 external effects processing merge into a finely balanced chaos – from ha
 rsh amp distortion and clipping to gentle tones and stuttering rhythms\, t
 his workshop demonstrates how the mixing desk itself becomes an instrument
 . Ideal for anyone wishing to delve deeper into experimental electronic so
 und for performance and studio work. The workshop will be held in English.
 \nlifeisfeedback (aka Benjamin Chilton) is a performer\, music educator an
 d co-founder of the modular synth shop Elevator Sound and the Machina Bris
 tronica festival – a passionate machine nerd who relies entirely on play
 fulness and curiosity in his sonic explorations.\n\nThe evening concert (7
 .00 pm to 11.00 pm)\nAnd when it comes to music and visuals\, it’s a no-
 brainer: the workshop programme concludes with an audiovisual concert\, cu
 rated in collaboration with Machina Bristronica from Bristol: three live e
 lectronic sets bringing together music and visuals from Hanover and Bristo
 l at the MusikZentrum.\nFirst up\, Age Eternal from Hanover will perform a
  live set\, with live visuals by Luc Amaden from Bristol. This will be fol
 lowed by Evo Ether from Bristol\, with visuals by Momo from Hanover. The e
 vening will conclude with a live audiovisual set by Kat Davids and AVHS\n
