SUMMARY:Abrasive Trees
LOCATION:Totnes The Town Mill
DESCRIPTION:- Abrasive Trees take their name from a Buddhist description o
f a hallucination-like nightmare realm. Led by Matthew Rochford (Silver Mo
th/Rothko)\, with Jay Newton (guitars)\, Will Tyler (drums)\, Georgia Swal
low (bass) and visual artist Jess Wooller\, they display a willingness to
experiment alongside a sound that sits loosely within an experimental rock
\, post-punk or post-rock aesthetic. The band have become known for their
fierce and delicate threads of sound\, shifting between sparkling instrume
ntals and explosive psychedelia.Exploring themes including the complexity
of loss\, and the hugeness of just being alive\, they use a combination of
distorted and reverb-drenched guitars\, intricate melodies and driving dr
um beats to create a sense of atmosphere and intensity. When they use lyri
cs they’re often cryptic and evocative\, painting pictures of deep emoti
onal or psychological landscapes. Since they were founded in 2018\, Abrasi
 ve Trees have released 4 EPs\, a studio album\, a compilation album and a
live album. They have worked with an ever-evolving roster of musicians inc
luding members of Silver Moth\, Fields of The Nephilim\, Rothko\, Diamond
Family Archive\, Quiet Quiet Band\, Talitha Rise\, and Eat Lights Become L
ights. After several releases lauded by BBC Introducing\, Clash\, XS Noize
\, Vive Le Rock\, Echoes and Dust\, Aural Aggravation\, and The Big Takeov
er\, the band released their much anticipated debut studio album in May 20
26 via Italian doom label Argonauta Records to widespread critical acclaim
 .Press“A goth-streaked odyssey of spoken-word incantation\, doom-laden f
lourishes and spectral walls of noise.”CLASH“Delirious\, deftly execut
ed and magnificently moody…a surging\, seething engine of doom. It’s a
n exhilarating ride. Satisfyingly sinister\, uncannily uplifting.”XS Noi
ze“Light Remaining feels like the release Abrasive Trees have been build
ing up to since their inception. It’s a sustained work of remarkable det
ail\, nuance\, but also density and force. Everything is perfectly realise
 d. It’s huge. Sonically\, conceptually\, in terms of ambition and execut
 ion\, the production… this is a peak\, a new pinnacle.”Aural Aggravati
on“Gorgeous…ebbs and flows beautifully…defies description. It just n
eeds to be heard to be believed. A solid debut from a striking band.”Viv
e Le Rock“A work that deftly explores the spiritual and aesthetic balanc
e of light and dark through 7 tracks of anthemic post-rock experimentalism
.”Means Mag“Blending experimental rock\, post-rock\, and dark psychede
lic textures\, the album captures the band at their most focused and expre
 ssive…an immersive sonic journey.”Moshville Times“Feels like a wides
creen evolution. The record moves with a slow\, deliberate gravity\, spect
ral guitars dissolving into low‑end pressure\, fragile passages collapsi
ng into towering crescendos. It’s an album that breathes\, one that trea
ts space as an instrument and pacing as a narrative tool.”Musomuso“Swi
rling guitars that sound like sitars leading the charge…stunning…there
 ’s much promise for this band.”Echoes & Dust“Post-punk psychedelia
…Abrasive Trees deal an evocative and mysteriously mystical\, poetic\, d
ark energy that is utterly enticing”Louder Than War“There is something
brilliant about watching a band this adept at their trade”The Big Takeo
ver“A colossal slab of melancholic melodies\, harmonies\, arpeggiated ch
 ord progressions\, and other post-punk/psych-rock delicacies”Words Thoug
 hts Action“A stunning\, grungy\, moody debut”BBC Introducing“A sonic
narrative\, with intricate layers of wandering bass and spectral guitar m
elodies that give way to gliding flourishes\, bringing forth an atmospheri
c song whose echoing vocals haunt every moment”Post-Punk.com\n\nBoletos:
