DESCRIPTION:Wales born\, Brighton-based instrumentalist Gwenifer Raymond is
  a celebrated champion of the finger-picked guitar. She has drawn internat
 ional acclaim for her repurposing of Mississippi blues and John Fahey’s 
 intricate Americana to embody her roots in rural South Wales and her inter
 ests in folk horror and the avant garde\, inventing a new form dubbed Wels
 h Primitive. The Guardian has described her as a “profound talent” whi
 lst the Observer has praised her “awe-inspiring technique and intense mu
 sicality”\, and Uncut Magazine has championed her “fast-developing tal
 ents as a composer of eerie menace.”\n\nThe release of Gwenifer Raymond
 ’s third studio album Last Night I Heard the Dog Star Bark in September 
 2025 via Canadian label We Are Busy Bodies has seen a torrent of internati
 onal recognition and exciting opportunities.\n\nNewly signed to Fat Possum
 \, the next 12 months promise a glut of further activity\, including debut
  music for the label and first-time reissues of her first two albums\, Str
 ange Lights Over Garth Mountain (2020\, Tompkins Square)\, a Welsh Music P
 rize Nominee\, and You Were Never Much of a Dancer (2018\, Tompkins Square
 ).\n\nThis show takes place at the Strines Nightingale – a lovely countr
 y pub\, formerly called the Sportsman\, which re-opened in autumn 2022. St
 rines is on the Piccadilly-Sheffield train line\, and on the 358 bus route
