SUMMARY:Writing the Self
LOCATION:Kingston Marriott - Limestone City Ballroom A/B
DESCRIPTION:Writing yourself in a memoir or personal essay is a daunting ch
allenge. Through a mixture of lecture\, discussion\, and generative writin
g exercises\, participants in this 90-minute workshop will explore how to

develop a richer\, more authentic portrait of the central character of you
r work (i.e. you).\nKate Gies is the author of It Must Be Beautiful to Be
Finished: A Memoir of My Body. She teaches creative nonfiction at George B
rown College. Her writing has appeared in The Globe and Mail\, The Walrus
\, The Malahat Review\, The Humber Literary Review\, Hobart\, and the Best
Canadian Essays 2024 Anthology. She lives in Toronto.\n \n\nBoletos: ht
