 ianist\, composer and one of the most influential figures in South African
  jazz. His remarkable career spans more than six decades\, with acclaimed 
 recordings including Tete’s Big Sound\, Did You Tell Your Mother\, Black
  Heroes\, One for Asa and the recently released African Day. In recognitio
 n of his immense contribution to South African jazz\, he received an honor
 ary doctorate in music from the University of Cape Town in 2023 and was in
 ducted into the Van Toeka Living Legends Programme. On 2 October at Niki
