 Solemnis \n\n»Völlige Erden-Entrücktheit« – das hat sein Sekretär a
 n Beethoven beobachtet\, als der an seinem größten kirchenmusikalischen 
 Werk arbeitete. Eine Messe\, so komplex\, so eigenwillig\, so extrem artif
 iziell. Und doch ein Werk\, das – so Beethoven – »von Herzen« komme 
 und »zu Herzen gehen« möge«.  \nEin frommer Wunsch\, vom Komponisten e
 igenhändig auf der Partitur vermerkt. Diese Zeile stand lange im Widerspr
 uch zu dem\, was man aus dieser alle Grenzen sprengenden Messe herauszuhö
 ren glaubte: Nämlich puren\, fast übermenschlichen Kunstanspruch. Doch d
 er Zugriff auf dieses radikal anspruchsvolle Großwerk hat sich in den let
 zten Jahrzehnten verändert\, auch dank Dirigenten wie Hugh Wolff. Dieser 
 hatte um 2000\, während seiner Zeit als Chefdirigent des hr-Sinfonieorche
 sters\, einen ganz neuen\, transparent-frischen Klassiker-Ton in Frankfurt
  etabliert und ebenso das Wissen um die historisch informierte Interpretat
 ionspraxis. Beethoven spannend neu\, verständlich und durchhörbar gestal
 ten: das können Wolff und das Orchester. Genau das Richtige für ein so b
 edeutungsschweres Werk wie die »Missa solemnis«. \n\nKonzerteinführung:

 omplete detachment from the earth« – this is what Beethoven's secretary
  observed when he was working on his greatest work of church music. A mass
  so complex\, so idiosyncratic\, so extremely artificial. And yet a work t
 hat – according to Beethoven – came »from the heart« and was intende
 d to »touch the heart«.\nA pious wish\, noted by the composer himself on
  the score. For a long time\, this line contradicted what one thought one 
 could hear in this mass that broke all boundaries: namely\, pure\, almost 
 superhuman artistic ambition. But the approach to this radically demanding
  major work has changed in recent decades\, thanks in part to conductors s
 uch as Hugh Wolff. Around 2000\, during his time as chief conductor of the
  Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra\, he established a completely new\, tr
 ansparent and fresh classical sound in Frankfurt\, as well as knowledge of
  historically informed performance practice. Wolff and the orchestra are a
 ble to present Beethoven in an exciting new way that is understandable and
  transparent. This is exactly what is needed for a work as significant as
