 hs. LEATHER: A QUEER HISTORYLeather\, sex\, rebellion and chosen family. F
 rom the back rooms of post-war gay bars and motorcycle clubs to leather cr
 uising bars\, fetish clubs and queer nightlife\, leather has been stitched
  into LGBTQ+ history for decades.This event gets under the skin of leather
  culture\, exploring the people\, places and communities that shaped it 
 — from London leather bars and cruising clubs\, including legendary venu
 es such as The Backstreet\, to motorcycle clubs\, fetish scenes and underg
 round spaces where leather became a language of desire\, identity and belo
 nging.We’ll explore BLUF — Bikers\, Leather\, Uniform\, Fetish — and
  the many styles and codes that developed around queer leather culture: bi
 kers\, cowboys\, uniforms\, military gear\, denim\, boots and more. We’l
 l look at how clothing became a way of signalling identity\, desire\, stat
 us and belonging\, and how something as simple as a pair of highly polishe
 d boots could become part of the ritual and fetish. These were ways of pla
 ying with masculinity and desire — sometimes deliberately exaggerated\, 
 sometimes borrowed from working-class and military worlds\, and often tran
 sformed into something distinctly queer.Leather was never just about what 
 you wore. It could be sex\, fashion\, performance\, protest\, rebellion\, 
 service and community — a way of creating connection in a world that oft
 en pushed queer lives underground.Expect archive images\, stories\, subcul
 ture\, sex\, cinema\, politics\, fashion\, cruising\, boots\, styles and o
