 Be it to two hundred people or twenty thousand\, he blows the crowd away n
 ight after night. After being signed to Sony Music in the early 1990s\, fo
 r whom he recorded 2 albums and achieved Top 40 chart success\, Martyn bec
 ame a trailblazer for independent musicians. He launched his own record la
 bel in 1999 forging a successful career using the internet\, ahead of many
  other artists.In November 2025 he released his 28th studio album\, Troubl
 ed Horses\, in Martyn’s own words\, “I wanted to create a record that 
 felt up-close and personal\, songs that are sitting right next to you\, on
  the edge of too close for comfort.” It’s an album of haunting\, elegi
 ac songs\, acoustically-recorded pared-back lo-fi snapshots.In 2024 he was
  invited by BBC Radio 2 for a second time to write a song as part of their
  brand new award winning 21st Century Folk project\, penning and performin
 g Chapel Porth Beach\, to mark the 200th Anniversary of the RNLI. This was
  following on from the success of his 2023 track\, Albert’s Place\, whic
 h featured in the original series\, and which included appearances on BBC 
 Breakfast TV\, the Jeremy Vine and Ken Bruce shows on BBC Radio 2 along wi
 th Radio 4’s World at One.His critically-acclaimed 2021 record\, 1960 wa
 s made Folk Album of The Month in Mojo and awarded 4 starts by Uncut\, and
  remained in the UK Official Folk charts for much of 2022.In April 2019 he
  won a Wales Folk Award for Here Come the Young\, and in 2023 he was nomin
 ated for Best Solo Artist. In 2015 Martyn was commissioned by the English 
 Folk Dance and Song Society (EFDSS) and Folk by the Oak\, in partnership w
 ith the Houses of Parliament’s Parliament in the Making programme as par
 t of the Sweet Liberties project\, to write the song Nye (Song for the NHS
 ) to commemorate the 500 year anniversary of the signing of the Magna Cart
 a\, and launched the song in the Speaker’s Chamber of the UK Houses of P
 arliament.He is gifted with the rare ability to speak to the soul with his
  expressive and poignant lyrics and has a career spanning over 40 years\, 
 27 studio albums\, over a half a million record sales and thousands of liv
