DESCRIPTION:Drawing is a skill that is sometimes overlooked in the developm
 ent of paintings. There is something wonderfully spontaneous in the intera
 ction of hand\, eye\, and brain to create a drawing. In each session of th
 is course we will undertake exercises in drawing that will then be develop
 ed into paintings. The preferred medium of the paintings is gouache\, an e
 xceptionally versatile and spontaneous medium. There will be a focus on le
 tting go of preconceived ideas and allowing ourselves to play.\nSome of th
 e topics covered will include:\n•	Loosening up our hands (and brains)\n
 •	Sketching as a means of generating ideas\n•	Developing attractive co
 mpositions\n•	Creating drama through tone and colour relationships \n•
 	Exploring the spectrum of realism to abstraction\n•	Incorporating story
 telling into our work\n•	Isometric\, oblique\, and three-point perspecti
 ves\nWe will look at a wide range of source materials\, from the work of c
 lassic and modern painters\, to comic book artists\, to contemporary Tasma
 nian artists. Some touch-points include the works of Paul Klee\, Phillip G
 uston\, Pieter Bruegel\, Gary Panter\, Ivan Brunetti\, Chris Ware\, and Ni
