SUMMARY:CARLEY’S WRECK AND RUIN
LOCATION:Durham Claypath Delicatessen
DESCRIPTION:- Carley’s Wreck and Ruin are a British blues duo with a dar
k edge. Primitive and raw\, blending gritty blues with trashy roots\, thei
r influences range from 1930’s Delta Blues\, through to the gospel fire
of Sister Rosetta Tharpe\, the occult style of Black Sabbath\, the theatri
cs of Screamin’ Jay Hawkins\, the witchy glamour of Stevie Nicks\, the s
piritual side of Robert Plant\, the Rock n Roll splendour of Wanda Jackson
\, the Mandolin of Bill Monroe and the guitars of Rockabilly and Punk all
blended together with the constant echoes of old-timey Country and British
Folk that creep in through the cracks into the speakers. The music is the
 stripped-back\, beat-up brainchild of Jo Carley (vocals\, mandolin\, washb
oard\, percussion\, keys) and Tim Carley (battered archtop guitar\, rattli
 n' shoe\, kick drum\, distorted vintage amps\, backing vocals). Raw\, rhyt
hmic\, and possessed by something older than rock ’n’ roll itself.Jo a
nd Tim met through a shared obsession with live music and a lifelong love
of the strange\, folk horror and the occult. Destined (or maybe cursed) to
spend eternity together\, making their own unholy racket seemed the answe
r to the question nobody was asking.Their journey has led them back in tim
e to the gritty sounds of early blues\, where they found the source that i
nspired some of their favourite music\, and from that wellspring\, Carley
’s Wreck and Ruin was born. Before Wreck and Ruin\, Jo and Tim spent near
ly a decade touring the UK and Europe with their band ‘Jo Carley & The O
ld Dry Skulls’\, developing their own dark roots style and building a lo
 yal underground following.\n\nBoletos: https://wegottickets.com/event/7005
