chant to contemporary jazz fusion\, from Bach to Zappa. This recital will
feature a mix of original music and reinterpretations of classics from in
his unique style\, featuring a large ensemble of friends and collaborators
 . 7:05PM - Arwen Oudekerk is a 22-year-old singer/songwriter from Sydney\,
now based in Perth\, making her mark across the soul\, funk and R&B scene
. Influenced by artists like Feist\, Duffy and Sienna Spiro\, she blends s
oulful vocals with a contemporary\, genre-fluid edge. Now in her final yea
r of Honours at WAAPA\, Arwen brings over a decade of vocal training to ev
ery performance. She's a member of Girl Power Jukebox\, an all-girl band t
hat has performed at Lyrics Underground\, The Ellington and as part of Fri
nge Festival. She was also the first to perform on WAAPA's newly built Sou
ndhouse Stage\, alongside countless other WAAPA shows including B3 Odyssey
\, marking the debut performance of WAAPA's brand-new Hammond B3 Organ. At
her end of year recital\, Arwen draws on the tarot's Emperor card — tra
ditionally a symbol of assertiveness\, authority and dynamic self-possessi
on — reimagined here as something more human: an exhausted\, hardworking
woman who transforms chaos into something others can rely on. Blending th
e sounds of Aurora\, Hiatus Kaiyote and Snarky Puppy alongside a few of he
r favourite originals\, Arwen explores what it means to be relied upon by
others while still searching for who you are. 8:10PM - Jaycobe Tomkinson i
s an Australian singer-songwriter and contemporary vocalist currently comp
leting his Honours in Music at WAAPA\, where songwriting sits at the heart
of his practice. With over 13 years of songwriting experience\, Jaycobe's
style is an amalgamation of all things folk\, country\, soul\, R&B and al
ternative\, with some of his biggest inspirations and influences coming fr
om musicians like Jackson Browne\, Chris Stapleton and Missy Higgins\, as
well Prince and Stevie Wonder. Jaycobe writes music that treats storytelli
ng as the first act: every song beginning as a page\, before it ever becom
es a performance. This recital is entirely original material\, drawn from
the many songs and stories crafted throughout Jaycobe’s creative journey
as well as from the EP he is currently recording as his end-of-year creat
ive project. With some incredible local musicians joining him on stage\, y
ou can expect honest lyrics\, soulful vocals\, and a set that traces the s
ame journey the EP is taking: from words on a page to a story shared on st
 age.\n\nBoletos: https://tickets.oztix.com.au/outlet/event/6d71d725-2f2e-4
