Bonobo announces UK and EU tour dates alongside new album «Distance In Static»\, out 11 September via Ninja Tune. Live at X-TRA Zu rich on 23 March 2027.
\nSimon Green\, aka Bonobo\, has announced a series of dates for his brand-new Bonobo Live show\, which will tour the U K and Europe throughout February and March 2027\, including a return to Lo ndon’s historic Alexandra Palace. The show will mark another evolution o f the Bonobo live experience that has captivated audiences around the worl d for more than a decade. Alongside an initial run of North American dates taking place in November and December this year\, this will be Bonobo’s first live tour since the shows in support of his 2022 album «Fragments ».
\nSpeaking recently to Mixmag as part of his cover feature\, Gre en explained: «This time\, the show will have a strong visual element\, a nd we’ll be incorporating more electronic sounds as well. When I first s tarted performing live\, the music was more jazz-oriented\, but it has sin ce evolved into something else. I’ve already played solo live shows usin g just modular synths and a few other pieces of equipment\, so this will b e a combination of that and my live band. Something a little different fro m last time\, with more pace and energy.»
\nHis groundbreaking live show – built around a full live band\, guest vocalists and immersive vi suals – set a new benchmark for how and where an electronic artist could translate their albums to the live stage. He has performed to millions of people around the world\, selling out prestigious venues including the Sy dney Opera House\, Alexandra Palace and Red Rocks Amphitheatre – in many cases as one of the first electronic artists ever to do so – as well as appearing on the world’s biggest festival stages\, including Glastonbur y\, Coachella\, Sónar and Fuji Rock. His most recent tour also included a co-headline appearance at London’s Field Day alongside Aphex Twin\, as well as a historic\, sold-out five-night residency at the Royal Albert Hal l – the longest consecutive run by a solo artist at the venue and the lo ngest ever staged there by an electronic musician.
\nThe tour follow s the release of Green’s latest album\, «Distance In Static»\, due out on 11 September via Ninja Tune. As ever\, the record features an impressi ve cast of collaborators\, including Arooj Aftab\, Joy Crookes\, Nilüfer Yanya\, Ichiko Aoba\, Nicole Miglis of Hundred Waters and Aanya Martin. Ly rics appear in English\, Urdu and Japanese\, while archival Iranian sample s and guzheng recordings sit alongside Green’s own meticulously crafted instrumentation\, woven together during recording sessions in Los Angeles\ , Tokyo\, London and beyond. A significant part of the album was created a t Neil Young’s legendary Broken Arrow Ranch in California\, where Green retreated for several weeks earlier this year.
\nThe album represent s the culmination of his more than 25-year career as a musician and one of electronic music’s leading figures. Over the course of his career\, he has released two UK Top 10 albums – 2017’s «Migration» and 2022’s «Fragments»\, both of which reached No. 5 on the UK charts – alongside numerous Gold- and Silver-certified singles\, more than 900\,000 records sold\, billions of streams\, collaborations with major artists including E rykah Badu and Damon Albarn\, and nominations for both the BRIT Awards and the GRAMMY Awards. He has received seven GRAMMY nominations in total\, fi ve of them in the Dance/Electronic categories – a record number of nomin ations he shares with The Chemical Brothers\, Skrillex and Madonna.
\n< p>Alongside this\, Green’s OUTLIER events and DJ sets have continued to place him at the heart of contemporary dance music culture\, connecting hi m with generations of clubbers in warehouses\, at festivals and in undergr ound venues alike. In recent years\, he has curated line-ups featuring art ists including Barry Can’t Swim\, Sofia Kourtesis\, salute\, Kelly Lee O wens\, Mall Grab\, DJ Tennis\, SG Lewis\, Carlita\, Elkka\, HAAi\, John Ta labot\, Paula Tape and many more. His 15\,000-capacity OUTLIER showcase at London’s Drumsheds became the fastest-selling event of the season\, whi le a sold-out 10\,000-capacity OUTLIER «Homecoming» show at On The Beach in Brighton proved to be one of the highlights of the summer.\nThe album’s visual world – carried throughout both the album and tour art work – was created in collaboration with acclaimed designer Trevor Jacks on. Moving away from the landscape-inspired aesthetic of previous Bonobo a lbums\, «Distance In Static» instead draws on microscopic imagery by ren owned photomicrographer John I. Koivula\, creating crystalline\, alien wor lds that feel at once natural and otherworldly.
