SUMMARY:MOG - Museum of Goa
LOCATION:Museum Of Goa
DESCRIPTION:Museum of Goa (MOG) is a private contemporary art space. Found
ed by Dr. Subodh Kerkar in 2015\, the Museum celebrates Goa’s history an
d people through contemporary art. MOG is envisioned not just as a reposit
ory of objects\, but as a laboratory of ideas where all forms of art are i
n constant dialogue with each other. The Museum seeks to bring art and loca
l history to larger audiences\, in an attempt to bridge the huge cultural
gap in the country. Apart from taking contemporary art to the larger publi
c\, we are also a pedagogical experiment in narrating history.Histories of
Goa\, a permanent exhibition at the Museum\, offers a glimpse into the mu
ltiple histories of the state\, highlighting lesser-known stories of its s
toried past. The exhibition showcases contemporary artists from Goa\, as w
ell as artwork inspired by the state. Our gallery is always on the lookout
for exciting and new creators to contribute to this dynamic collection.MO
G also hosts temporary exhibitions all year round\, showcasing the best ta
lents from Goa and around the world. Exhibitions at MOG are disparate in t
heir medium and diverse in their messages. To share our love for art\, we o
 rganise workshops\, art courses\, lectures\, musical performances\, and re
sidencies for budding artists. Our weekly lecture series\, MOG Sundays\, h
osts eminent artists\, scholars\, and activists who speak on subjects clos
e to their hearts. The programme strives to bring the finest minds to the
people of Goa.The Museum is housed in a three-storey\, 16\,000-square-foot
building designed by Goan architect Dean D’Cruz in Pilerne. Adjoining t
he Museum building is our Sculpture Garden\, which displays a few of Dr. K
erkar’s most famous works\, including the Carpet of Joy.MOG translates t
o ‘love’ in Konkani\, and we believe that love and empathy are the too
ls with which to build the future.\n\nBoletos: https://www.district.in/eve
