 e 20 November 2026.Recorded in the kitchen of a bungalow in Echo Park\, Lo
 s Angeles with a Tascam cassette 8 track machine\, As Killers Do is Neale
 ’s fourth collaboration with Guy Blakeslee and stays true to the duo’s
  commitment to minimalism and the raw immediacy and hand-made intimacy of 
 home recording. Totaling a mere 28 minutes\, the ten songs on the record o
 ffer up a variety of sonic worlds\, from echoes of LA’s Paisley Undergro
 und and 60’s girl group sha-la-las\, to metaphysical proto-punk\, timele
 ss outsider folk and Surrealist psych-pop.A brilliant lyricist\, Neale has
  a unique ability to uncover the extraordinary within the mundane. As Kill
 ers Do showcases her ever evolving crystalline vocal mastery and razor sha
 rp insights into the human condition. By exploring her struggles on the in
 ner plane against the backdrop of the accelerating chaos and imbalance of 
 our digital society\, she alchemizes a transformation – from obsessive o
 verthinking and often debilitating anxiety at the start of the record\, to
  a hopeful\, grounded and mystical perspective by its end. The quiet inten
 sity of this record serves to remind us that the antidote to anxiety is cr
 eativity.Lael has still never owned a ‘smart-phone’ and has remained w
 ary of social media. Her DIY ethos of home recorded music and self-directe
 d Handycam videos is now expanding with the launch of her new label Consen
 sual Sound\, which takes its name from her Substack. As Killers Do will be
  limited to 500 vinyl copies\, each with a handmade cover and mostly avail
 able directly from Neale. Her primitive original paintings\, which she’s
  been selling at the merch table in lieu of carrying heavier items\, appea
 r on the record cover and in crude stop motion form in the accompanying mu
 sic videos. It all adds up to a personal artistic world built around handm
 ade imperfections\, intended to foster direct personal connections and off
 er experiences instead of mass produced products.Neale writes: ‘What’s
  real is becoming much harder to discern day to day. And for that reason\,
  I hunger for it more strongly. I used to long for more followers\, higher
  streaming numbers\, more sales\, but in the light of recent revelations c
 oncerning falsification of numbers\, I am much less interested in it. I ma
 ke music and paintings because it’s what I do. Because I go crazy inside
  my own mind when I’m not making things. And it’s peak fulfillment whe
 n the things I make to help myself work to help someone else.’Born and r
 aised in Virginia’s idyllic countryside\, Neale brought the high-lonesom
 e sound of her home state with her when she moved to California to pursue 
 music. After years of writing songs on guitar and playing small venues in 
 Los Angeles\, she discovered the Omnichord in 2019\, which sparked a new c
 reative direction. Working with Blakeslee\, she recorded an unpolished col
 lection of songs on a cassette 4-track\, which Blakeslee sent to Sub Pop R
 ecords in March 2020. The resulting album\, Acquainted With Night\, struck
  a chord with listeners during the bizarre days of early 2021. Star Eaters
  Delight (2023) deepened the collaboration with Blakeslee\, infusing minim
 alist soundscapes with a heightened electric energy. The album’s subsequ
 ent tour included sold-out shows in Los Angeles\, New York City\, London\,
  and Paris\, multiple trips across Europe\, and a West Coast run supportin
 g kindred spirit Weyes Blood. Altogether Stranger (2025) led to more accla
 im\, a sold out tour of the United Kingdom and opening slots supporting Be
 ach House\, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs\, TV On The Radio and Cass McCombs. Betwee
 n tours\, Neale and Blakeslee split time between Los Angeles and her famil
 y’s farm in Virginia.‘She’s managed to infuse a very done old female
