 tore strip mall. A drive-thru at midnight. LA based artist\, Caroline Rose
  (she/they) has always found the surreal embedded within the banal\, and G
 entling the Horse at the Walt Whitman Mall pushes that instinct to its fur
 thest edge. The record constructs a hyperreal Americana fantasy where ever
 yday life is asked to reveal its underbelly. The release on October 23\, 2
 026\, doubles as the debut of SUCK records\, Rose’s own imprint—a fitt
 ing next form for an enigmatic artist whose work resists settling into one
  shape.\n\nGentling the Horse at the Walt Whitman Mall stretches the ordin
 ary into the uncanny. The record pairs sharply observed\, memoiristic song
 writing with expansive guitar textures that render the everyday with viole
 nt clarity and mythic scale. Beneath its melodic sweep and signature hooks
  runs a current of violence and American dream leakage.\n\n“Alien decisi
 ons from a swamp-like past…now I'm just a subway rat running from the la
 b…I reject this perfect structure… I burn down this home…I don’t w
 ant to be composed\, I want to decompose!”\n\n– “Valery (please don
 ’t be mad at me)”\n\nThe record dips into caricature to tell an exquis
 ite corpse of stories through Rose’s idiosyncratic aesthetic fantasies. 
 Songs like “Chow Mein” and “Cement Head” lurch between menace and 
 slapstick.\n\n“I got a head full of steel barbed wire…I got lungs\, tw
 o Ziploc bags… I got a drill inside me… my blood oozes Texas tea.”\n
