 Finlay Mackenzie has already established himself as one of the most exciti
 ng young drummers on the UK jazz scene. Whilst living in Scotland\, he hea
 dlined the Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival in both 2023 and 2025 with his 
 quintet\, as well as Glasgow Jazz Festival\, Dundee Jazz Festival\, Aberde
 en Jazz Festival etc.\n\nAs a finalist in the UK Young Drummer of the Year
  2023 competition\, Finlay has been recognised for his virtuosity and crea
 tivity behind the kit\, also shown by his nomination in the 2025 Scottish 
 Jazz Awards for the ‘Rising Star’ title. Beyond performing\, he is als
 o an innovative composer\, performing sets of original work with his trio 
 and quintet\, and also a notable performance with Walter Smith III of Finl
 ay’s “Song for Walter.”\n\nWith his quintet – including London jaz
 z heavies George Johnson and Ferg Kilsby - and as a sideman\, Finlay conti
 nues to develop a distinctive voice that blends maturity\, finesse and for
 ward-motion with his Scottish heritage — marking him out as one of the m
