DESCRIPTION:<p><em>Day 1</em> of the KNMA Dance Festival opens with an even
 ing of rhythm\, desire and divine love. Beginning with Chenda Melam\, a vi

 performances - Śṛṅgāra-ma&ntilde\;jarī\, inspired by the timeless s
 tory of Nala and Damayanti\, Prema Darpaṇa\, drawn from Aśvaghoṣa&#39
 \;s Saundarānanda-kāvya\, and Anurāgam\, a presentation that celebrates

 interpretation of the life and poetry of the nineteenth-century Punjabi my
 stic Piro\; and Anurākti\, a contemporary work inspired by Akka Mahadevi&

  a night-long kattaikkuttu performance of Subhadra-kalyanam. It explores t
 hree profound forms of love: the protective bond of siblings (Krishna and 
 Subhadra)\, the unshakeable friendship between Krishna and Arjuna\, and th

  Praṇidhāna\, based on Sant Janabai&#39\;s devotion to Lord Panduranga
 \; Raṅg Rūḥānī\, which explores the relationship between Amir Khusr
 au and Nizamuddin Auliya\; and Basanta Anurāga\, a celebration of Krishna
  through the moods of spring\, love\, longing and enchantment.</p>\n\n<p>&
