SUMMARY:Tim Kliphuis Trio(violin\, guitar & bass)
LOCATION:Duffield Music at Duffield - Saint Alkmund's Church
DESCRIPTION:- Currently in its 18th year of touring\, the multi-award-winn
ing Tim Kliphuis Trio is one of the world’s top string groups\, combinin
g jaw-dropping virtuosity and mesmerizing improvisations with a beautifull
y varied repertoire sourced from classical\, gypsy jazz and North-European
folk music. With Scotsmen Nigel Clark (guitar) and Roy Percy (double bass
)\, Kliphuis has travelled the world\, performed for royalty and the Unite
d Nations\, and collaborated with The Netherlands Chamber Orchestra\, Tall
inn Chamber Orchestra and Cape Town Philharmonic at festivals such as Glas
gow’s Celtic Connections\, the Prince’s Canal Concert in Amsterdam and
Starlight Classics on national TV in South Africa.PROGRAMMEJust over 100
years ago\, George Gershwin composed Rhapsody in Blue for the Paul Whitema
n Orchestra\, combining elements of classical\, jazz and blues. This iconi
c piece opened up a new era for America’s musical history\, and remains
one of the most recognizable compositions today. Tim Kliphuis and his Trio
celebrate 20 years of touring together by presenting a brand-new\, virtuo
sic Rhapsody that swings\, grooves and dazzles. With their trademark high-
octane sound\, the three play the role of orchestra and soloist\, bringing
back the free-flowing improvisational energy that Gershwin’s timeless m
elodies deserve. Paired with the Rhapsody is the Trio’s popular arrangem
ent Hoedown for the Common Man\, as performed with orchestras across the w
orld\, that celebrates the music of yet another legendary American compose
r: Aaron Copland. To top this exciting programme off\, the Trio play some
Gershwin gems: It Ain’t Necessarily So\, I Got Rhythm and They Can’t T
ake That Away from Me in a solo guitar version.\n\nBoletos: https://wegott
