SUMMARY:MARK HARRISON
LOCATION:Claypath Delicatessen
DESCRIPTION:MARK HARRISON is widely considered one of the most original an
d interesting blues artists around. His alternative\, all-original music h
as taken him to some iconic venues and festivals in the UK\, attracting ac
claim wherever he goes. In 2019 he appeared live on BBC Radio 2 as a guest
on The Cerys Matthews Blues show. Cerys described Mark on-air as ‘A bit
different and kinda groovy too’. He has released six albums to date whi
ch have been acclaimed across a range of genres\, receiving airplay and ex
cellent reviews in the UK\, Europe and the US. In 2024 Mark released his 8
th album\, Fools and Clowns. The album covers a diverse range of topics in
cluding the modern workplace\, episodes in the lives of original blues art
ists\, comparisons between the great inventions of the past like sewage sy
stems and modern-day inventions like social media. Musically\, the album h
as a timeless vibe that would sit well next to some of the classic albums
of the 60’s/70’s such as those released by The Band and Little Feat. A
thrilling finger-picker and slide guitar player with his own distinctive
style\, his catchy rhythms combine with lyrics that intrigue and engage. H
e takes elements of roots music\, including folk\, blues and gospel\, to c
reate something that is very much his own genre. A master storyteller\, ea
ch song unfolds like a 3-minute film or novel. Mark’s live shows are kno
wn not only for the music content but also for his engaging between-song c
hat. ‘Everybody should be talking about Mark Harrison’ - Classic Rock
magazine ‘Charismatic live performance’ - RnR magazine ‘With a highl
y distinctive style and a growing international reputation\, combines supe
rb picking and slide work with richly burnished vocals and inventive origi
nal material’ - Celtic Connections Festival ‘He often sounds like a cr
oss between Ry Cooder and Little Feat’ - Blues & Rhythm magazine\n\nBole
