  desert blues and the atmosphere of the open road\, Canyons creates music 
 that feels both timeless and widescreen. There are echoes of Ry Cooder’s
  Paris\, Texas soundtrack\, Ennio Morricone’s legendary film scores and 
 the desert-noir sound of Calexico\, but the band’s music ultimately inha
 bits its own landscape.\n\nWith no vocals\, melody\, texture and atmospher
 e take centre stage. Lap steel guitars shimmer and ache alongside guitars
 \, strings and brass\, creating instrumental soundtracks for places that m
