After a long 20 years of sile nce as a band\, this California-based power trio \;&ndash\; guitarist and lead singer Bret Domrose\, drummer Robert Mailhouse\, and bassist Kean u Reeves &ndash\; surprised many and perhaps even \;themselves when th ey returned in fine form in 2023 with a new album that found the three joy fully making music again and doing it all \;Somewhere Between the Power Lines and Palm Trees. Only two years later &ndash\; after exten sive touring in America and around the world playing everywhere from sweat y rock clubs to giant outdoor festivals &ndash\; Dogstar is returning with strong new songs that leave no doubt that this little band that could is back for good with a powerful sound that is bigger and better than ever be fore. \;&ldquo\;It felt like our last album was our ticket into a part y\,&rdquo\; says Bret Domrose. &ldquo\;And now we&rsquo\;ve shown up to th e party &ndash\; the three of us.&rdquo\;
Dogstar is a group of thre e friends who have slowly yet surely become a band of brothers &ndash\; a group with multiple talents \;committed to picking up the pace and loc king into life as a working and increasingly beloved rock band who are exc ited to get back on the road this summer. \;&ldquo\;We couldn&rsquo\;t fucking \;wait\,&rdquo\; Keanu Reeves says about Dogstar&rsq uo\;s collective desire to get right back to the studio after the biggest and best tour of their lives. &ldquo\;Personally\, I \;loved& nbsp\;it all. \; For me\, the attitude was like\, &lsquo\;Let&rsquo\;s work hard and let&rsquo\;s GO.&rsquo\; And we \;really \ ;enjoy the variety of songs here &ndash\; although one way or another\, th ey all do kind of \;rock.&rdquo\;
As Robert Mailhouse s ees it\, \;All In Now \;is the most vivid reflection of t he passion and chemistry that has been driving Dogstar&rsquo\;s heartfelt rock &\; roll dreams from the start. &ldquo\;The whole album may not hi t quite as hard as the title track\, but somehow it really sets up the ene rgy at the heart of this album and the fun that we&rsquo\;ve \;alw ays \;had playing together.&rdquo\; \;Indeed\, \;All In Now \;reflects Dogstar hitting festival stages and experiencin g the energy that can happen between a band and a big live audience. &ldqu o\;We absorbed that last time out on tour\,&rdquo\; says Domrose. &ldquo\; We came off those huge stages playing before big bands for up to like 50\, 000 people and said\, `This is where we are now.&rsquo\; Not consciously\, but all of that soaked in.&rdquo\;
Mailhouse remembers\, &ldquo\;Ju st seeing the smiles on people&rsquo\;s faces and feeling their joy on a m usical level. \;Playing some outdoor festivals\, and when it starts to rain\, seeing \;nobody \;leaving.&rdquo\;
&ldquo\; Those festivals in Europe really made a big\, positive impact on us\,&rdqu o\; adds Reeves.
&ldquo\;We loved playing to people in the afternoon who didn&rsquo\;t necessarily come to see Dogstar\, but connected with wh at we were doing. And that connected with us.&rdquo\; Bret continued\, &ld quo\;You never know if people are going to show up\, are they going to sta y\, are they going to listen? It meant a lot that people not only stayed b ut got into songs that they mostly had never heard before.&rdquo\;
< em>All In Now \;is an album that loudly and clearly reflects Dogs tar&rsquo\;s collective musical passions and growing strengths as a road-t ested band. &ldquo\;In your beauty there is a danger\,&rdquo\; Domrose sin gs in the first line of \;All In Now&rsquo\;s intense opening track\, &ldquo\;Math\,&rdquo\; and this snaky\, darkly sexy track sets th e impressive and slightly mysterious tone for a decidedly cohesive album t hat seems both lyrically and musically full of both beauty and danger.
Throughout the album\, the rhythm section of Mailhouse and Reeves sound s more locked in than ever before\, while Domrose&rsquo\;s vocals and guit ar work fly to increasingly impressive new heights here. Overall\, \;< em>All In Now \;finds Dogstar confidently rocking harder than eve r before on tracks like the title track and &ldquo\;Joy\,&rdquo\; and even when tone changes on gems like the wonderfully anthemic &ldquo\;Shallow E asy&rdquo\; and the gorgeously melodic closing song\, &ldquo\;Wing\,&rdquo \; this remains the altogether bracing sound of a rock band firing on all cylinders and all ready now to get back on the road and play. And somehow in &ldquo\;All In Now&rdquo\; &ndash\; the propulsive title track and the compelling first single from the new album &ndash\; Dogstar has created it s own theme song about the state of their musical union here in 2026 a ban d that &ldquo\;has gone from lost to found.&rdquo\;

Dogsta r credits legendary producer Nick Launay &ndash\; whose long and impressiv e track record includes great studio work with everyone from Midnight Oil to Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds to Yeah Yeah Yeahs and \;Amyl and the S niffers\, and interestingly\, notable rock trios from XTC to Silverchair & ndash\; with bringing a new sense of energy and excitement to \;Al l In Now. As Domrose recalls\, &ldquo\;Our management put Nick&rsquo\ ;s name on a list of possible producers.&rdquo\; \;&ldquo\;And we all thought it was a typo. Like this guy will \;never \;work with us\,&rdquo\; Mailhouse adds with a laugh.
In truth\, Launay fou nd himself inspired by the experience of producing Dogstar&rsquo\;s new al bum &ndash\;which they ultimately recorded in the summer of 2025 in Studio 2 of EastWest Studios\, a place where a great deal of music history has b een made\, from The Monkees to Red Hot Chili Peppers to Kendrick Lamar. Fo r Launay\, &ldquo\;Working with Bret\, Robert\, and Keanu was extremely fu n because it brought things back to why people form bands and make music. These three friends wrote some killer songs and wanted to push some bounda ries in the studio. \;It&rsquo\;s all passion and no BS. For me\, it&r squo\;s always a treat working with such capable musicians because the sky &rsquo\;s the limit when experimenting\, and that&rsquo\;s exactly what we did\, while smiling all the way.&rdquo\;
In fact\, to hear the band
tell it\, perhaps the most challenging part of making \;All In No
w \;was choosing an album title. \; \;&ldquo\;We had a&nb
sp\;tough \;time naming this album\,&rdquo\; Domrose admits.
&ldquo\;We went through dozens\, maybe hundreds of ideas.&rdquo\; &ldquo\;
It&rsquo\;s true\,&rdquo\; adds Mailhouse. &ldquo\;And after naming the la
st album \;Somewhere Between the Power Lines and Palm Trees\,
we almost went with a name about our location again. Bret was looking up
the coordinates for EastWest Studios.&rdquo\; \;According to
Reeves\, &ldquo\;The first working title for \;All In Now
\;was\, in fact\, \;Good Cookie. Yeah\, that was up
on the board for a while\,&rdquo\; he adds with a laugh. &ldquo\;And then
we had \;Intersections.&rdquo\; Thankfully and wisely\, Dogs
tar ultimately decided not to choose a title that sounds more like a Green
Day or Rush record\, but rather one that sounds exactly like what it is &
ndash\; a really cool new Dogstar album. \;As Nick Launay puts it\, &l
dquo\;I love how Bret&rsquo\;s voice and melodies soar above the solid gro
oves on this album. There&rsquo\;s something \;very \;hon
est about it\, which I guess is why it&rsquo\;s called \;All in No
w. I think this friendly trio is sounding HUGE and will turn some hea
ds this time around.&rdquo\;
