SUMMARY:Way Dynamic
LOCATION:Season Three
DESCRIPTION:Way Dynamic \, the project of Melbourne songwriter Dylan Young
\, shares his new single ‘Officially’. The song is included on the fir
st-ever international release of the album Massive Shoe\, out on 2 Oct via
Jagjaguwar\, which also features the recent BBC 6 Music playlisted single
‘Miffed It’. ‘Officially’ is released ahead of Way Dynamic’s up
coming UK\, Ireland and North American tour. "I wrote ‘Officially’ the
week I met my girlfriend\, so it really is a shamefully joyous love song\
,” Dylan explains. Part delirious and part lament\, he continues\, “Bu
t it also contends with the downside of being addicted to someone - I am a
very compulsive person." It’s a jubilant number that enhances Massive S
hoe’s take on relationships squandered and flourishing.... Massive Shoe
is Way Dynamic’s playful and understated\, luminous and textured third a
lbum\, originally released on Spoilsport Records. It’s minimalist folk-p
op\, art rock and baroque pop\, produced and largely played by Young\, who
moonlights in Melbourne’s beloved Cool Sounds and Good Morning and has
played drums with Snowy Band and Kankawa Nagarra. It’s tempting to only
compare these songs to those of yesteryear – Young’s falsetto\, his ea
r for harmonies and the intricate arrangements all feel timeless. But ther
 e’s a sensibility\, a turn of phrase\, that feels deeply contemporary: i
t’s telling that Waxahatchee’s Katie Crutchfield described ‘Miffed I
t’ as her “favourite song in a VERY long time”\, and Katie\, MJ Lend
erman\, This is Lorelei and Black Country New Road have all taken Way Dyna
mic on tour\, while Sir Elton John said that he “just cannot stop listen
ing” to ‘Ibiza’. Young’s songs don’t shy away from sentiment\, o
r equally from silliness: on any given song he might suggest a flight to s
pace or earnestly lament a miscommunication. “Can we walk and talk as we
ll?” he asks on ‘I Was the Dancer’\, and we rush to accept the invit
 ation.\n\nBoletos: https://tickets.oztix.com.au/outlet/event/d79e7395-c042
