DESCRIPTION:South Asian weddings are often marked by their grandiose and co
 lourful spectacles! Yet\, beneath this grandeur often lies a more tumultuo
 us emotional landscape.\n\nA Very Mahogany Wedding is a staged dramatic re
 ading that examines the tension between spectacle and emotional reality. B
 lending poetry and prose with movement\, this devised performance follows 
 a bride\, bridesmaid\, and solemniser on the Big Day. Together\, they offe
 r raw and intimate perspectives on the complexities of romantic love\, ask
 ing what it really takes to manifest a lifelong union.\n\nThis production 
 is commissioned by Esplanade\, and inspired by Mahogany Journal’s 1st ph
 ysical zine\, Manifest\, that was self-published in January this year (wit
 h the help of the Jalan Besar Fellowship under Sing Lit Station).\n\nDirec
