DESCRIPTION:From global to local (“glocal”) contexts\, what law and gov
 ernance measures are needed as humanity confronts the triple planetary cri
 ses of biodiversity loss\, climate change\, and pollution? And how can gov
 ernment officials\, academics\, lawyers\, communities\, and other stakehol
 ders meaningfully contribute to concerted action in response to these cris
 es? In collaboration with the South African Research Chair in Cities\, Law
  and Environmental Sustainability (CLES) at North-West University\, Potche
 fstroom\, between 6 and 11 October 2026 \, the Environmental Law Associati
 on of South Africa (ELA) Annual and Student Conferences will explore these
  questions from diverse perspectives. You are invited to participate in th
 ese Conferences to reflect on the way forward. The Student Conference on 6
  and 7 October 2026 is an opportunity for students (postgraduate and under
 graduate) to share and seek input on their ongoing or completed reserach o
 f relevance to the topic\, while the Annual Conference on 8 and 9 October 
 2026 invites academics\, community members\, environmental assessment prac
 titioners\, government officials\, lawyers\, and other stakeholders to pre
 sent their work on and engage in conversation on glocal governance in an a
 ge of triple planetary crises . On 8 October 2026\, attendees are invited 
 to join an excursion to the Vredefort Dome\, a World Heritage Site where y
 ou can bear witness to the earliest and largest meteorite impact on Earth
