From a lightning’s rupture\, creation erupts. For me\, li ghtning embodies a transformative duality—both destructive and generativ e. This duality mirrors the journey of Cai Wenji (蔡⽂姬)\, whose lifew as shattered by loss yet reborn through art.In this 45-minute solo perform ance\, I reinterpret her legacy by channeling that raw energy into aperson al act of artistic rebirth. This work not only tells Wenji’s story but a lso becomes a vessel formy own experiences\, highlighting our shared strug gles\, cultural memory\, and the art oftransformation.Reimagining Eighteen Songs of a Nomad Flute (胡笳⼗⼋拍) through voice\, motion-triggered electronics\, and calligraphy-inspired choreography\, this piece contains 18 distinct “ruptures” —each corresponding to one stanza of the orig inal poem. In context of lightning\, "rupture" refers tothe sudden disrupt ions in the air caused by intense electrical discharges\, which producesho ckwaves heard as thunder. “Blitz/Lightning” signifies moments of ruptu re that sparks creativetransformation.
