 us at The Front Room for a night of community and poetic exchange.Whether 
 you're a seasoned poet or just trying it out for the first time\, our Poet
 ry Open Mic is a warm inclusive place to share your creativity. Grab a cup
  of coffee\, or wine\, step up to the mic\, and let your words flow. Open 
 mic sign ups start at 6:30pm.This month we are so happy to have two stunni
 ng featured poets: John McCullough and Suyin Du Bois. John McCullough live
 s in Hove. His book of poems\, Reckless Paper Birds (Penned in the Margins
 ) won the 2020 Hawthornden Prize for Literature as well as being shortlist
 ed for the Costa Poetry Award. John’s collections have been Books of the
  Year for publications including The Guardian\, The Times\, The Independen
 t and The Telegraph and he also won the Polari First Book Prize. The poem 
 ‘Flower of Sulphur’\, from his fourth collection Panic Response (Penne
 d in the Margins)\, was shortlisted for the 2021 ForwardPrize for Best Sin
 gle Poem. His fifth collection\, Crowd Voltage was published in March 2026
  by Bloodaxe.Suyin Du Bois is a poet of mixed Chinese-Malaysian and Belgia
 n heritage\, living in London. Her poems have been published in Propel\, I
 amb\, Stanzas\, Bi+ Lines: An Anthology of Contemporary Bi+ Poets (Fourtee
 n Publishing\, 2023) and Malaysian Places and Spaces (Maya Press\, 2024)\,
  amongst others. She is a member of the Southbank Centre’s New Poets Col
 lective 2024/25. When not obsessing over word choice\, Suyin spends her ti
 me building a profit-with-purpose start-up that seeks to ensure 24/7 acces
 s to nutritious\, affordable food for NHS hospital staff. Her debut pamphl
 et\, Eating Air\, has just been published by The Emma Press.Sign ups start
