SUMMARY:Arboreal Intuitions & Oooooo (sing together and you will make a pe
 rfect circle)
LOCATION:EMMEDIA Gallery & Production Society
DESCRIPTION:Our 2026 main and project space exhibitions open on September
18th! Join us for an Opening Reception\, see the work for the first time a
nd meet the artists. \nProject Space Exhibition\nOooooo (sing together an
d you will make a perfect circle) reveals the connection between harmony\,
mathematics\, and the human body. It consists of a CRT TV and two microph
ones. The title of the work invites pairs of people to sing into the micro
phones. The signals are directly mapped onto the TV screen\, with one mic
plotted on the X axis and the other on the Y axis. As a result\, the relat
ionship between voices is made visible. If singing identical notes\, the s
hape will approximate a circle. If singing in harmony\, the sound will cre
ate "Lissajous curves"\, mathematical structures explored by Jules Antoine
Lissajous. Regardless of musical talent\, participants experiment in crea
ting sounds and shapes that bring them closer together.About the Artist\nK
at Hartog is a new media artist based in Toronto. Her work considers the f
 undamental nature of the universe: matter\, energy\, space\, time\, etc. i
n relation to our experience as human beings. Her work explores abstract m
odes of connection\, and the interplay between what is ephemeral and what
is eternal. Her work is primarily interactive\, using technology as a tool
to create grounded experiences that obscure the separation of physical an
 d digital. \n \nEXHIBITION PERIOD: September 18 - October 31\, 2026\nOPE
NING RECEPTION: Friday\, September 18th at 7PM\nProudly supported by Calga
