DESCRIPTION:Born and raised in the Bay Area and currently based in New York
  City\, Ana Roxanne is a composer and vocalist whose personal\, subtly exp
 erimental style has been described as "introverted euphoria" by Resident A
 dvisor and "ecstatic" by Pitchfork. Most recently\, Roxannechanneled her h
 eartbreak and grief into 'Poem 1'\, her second album and most unguarded st
 atement to date. A blend of decelerated jazz\, minimalism and vocal folk f
 orms that's marked by an awareness of ambient musics\, the album plays out
  like catharsis\, finding hope in the subtlety\, slowness and smoky sadnes
 s of its piano themes\, vulnerable vocals and dissociated synthesizer dron
 es\,\n\n Roxanne grew up fascinated by jazz\, R&B and classical music\, l
 ocked into Bay Area radio and her parents' record collections. And after m
 oving to rural Iowa to study music at community college\, she became invol
 ved in a choral program that whisked her across the country. But it was a 
 trip to Uttarakhand in India\, where she traveled to learn traditional Hin
 dustani vocal techniques\, that truly reshaped her outlook. On her return 
 to the USA\, she enrolled at Oakland's prestigious Mills College and began
  sculpting her signature sound\, dubbing a handful of experiments on her d
 ebut EP '~~~'. Originally passed around only to friends in 2015\, the reco
 rd made its way to Leaving Records who reissued it in 2019 and its meditat
 ive\, restorative songs struck a chord with listeners and critics alike.\n
 \n A year later\, Roxanne signed with Kranky and released her debut albu
 m proper\, 'Because of a Flower'\, using a lifetime of inspiration and emo
 tional anguish to drive songs that looped dreampop with West Coast new age
  sounds and trip-hop with classical music\, yet sounded startlingly person
 al. It's no surprise that the Guardian described the album as "a magical p
 op-ambient mirrorworld". And she followed the released with a run of high-
 profile worldwide shows and festival appearances\, performing at London's 
 inaugural Pitchfork Music Festival and Le Guess Who in 2021\, Amsterdam's 
 cult club music expo Dekmantel and Sydney's City Recital Hall in 2022\, Re
 wire Festival in 2022 and Glastonbury in 2024.\n\n Aside from defining her
  point of view as a solo artist\, Roxanne has quickly developed a powerf
 ul voice as a composer and collaborator. She began scoring work in 2022\, 
 working with artist Bernie Krause on 'The Great Animal Orchestra'\, a comm
 ission for the Fondation Cartier and most recently teamed up with director
  James L. Robinson on the award-winning feature 'First Light'\, that's set
  for release in 2026. Reworking Beverly Glenn-Copeland's timeless 'Old Mel
 ody' for 'Keyboard Fantasies Reimagined' in 2021\, Roxanne also worked a
 longside DJ/producer Brian Piñeyro (aka DJ Python) on the Mexican Summer-
