DESCRIPTION:About Chabot College Jazz The Jazz Studies program has attaine
 d national recognition for several decades. It has garnered awards from th
 e Reno Jazz Festival\, the Pacific Coast Jazz Festival\, the Santa Cruz Ja
 zz Festival\, and the Monterey Jazz Festival. Through the years\, the Chab
 ot Jazz Ensembles have performed all over the U.S.\, including several tri
 ps to Japan. The Chabot College Jazz Studies program covers very unique of
 ferings\, including Jazz Piano\, Jazz theory\, and improvisation\, as well
  as numerous award-winning Jazz ensembles on many levels. Through the deca
 des\, some of the ensembles have accompanied such greats as Rosemary Cloon
 ey\, Mel Tormè\, Delfeayo Marsalis\, Doc Severinsen\, Ledisi\, Ernie Watt
 s\, Bobby Shew\, Steve Turre\, Lew Soloff\, Gordon Goodwin\, Steve Allen\,
  Matt Catingub\, Jamey Aebersold\, Patti Page\, Snooky Young\, Conrad Herw
 ig\, Peter Erskine\, Bob Sheppard\, and Pete Christlieb. The Jazz Studies 
 department has several accomplished alumni including: Dave Garibaldi (Drum
 s) performed with Tower of Power\, Frank Sumares (Piano) performed with Ja
 mey Aebersold and Bill Watrous\, Ledisi (Vocalist) recording artist for Ve
 rve Records\, Thomas Morgan (Bass) recording artist\, Mic Gillette (Trumpe
 t) performed with Tower of Power\, Jeff Prinz (Saxophone) performed and re
 corded with Rosemary Clooney\, Steve Bowman (Drums) performed with rock ba
 nd Counting Crows\, Donald Kennelly (Trombone) performing with the San Fra
 ncisco Opera\, Matt Fenders (Trombone) performing with Jay Leno’s Tonigh
 t Show\, David Enos (Bass) performed with Arturo Sandoval and David Bennoi
 t\, and Frank Martin (piano/composer/arranger) performed with Dizzy Gilles
 pie\, Herbie Hancock\, Bobby McFerrin\, John Handy\, Ramsey Lewis\, Joe\,
