 er and producer Yasmina Derradj\, who has just released her sophomore albu
 m\, ‘e.a.l. (euro arab lovergirl)’ - a release which sits somewhere be
 tween intimate diary and expansive\, soaring fantasy.\nThe music gathers m
 oods and impulses into songs\, where fragments drift between the private a
 nd the outside world. Derradj builds collages of percussion\, field record
 ings\, voice notes and vocal freestyles\, alongside passages of MIDI strin
 gs\, recorded oud\, guitar\, and sampled qanun - carefully arranged withou
 t losing their original feeling.\nThe album draws on inspiration ranging f
 rom Sugababes to Fairuz\, as well as a myriad of movies and pictures. The 
 project began in Yasmina’s room in Copenhagen\, but also contains elemen
 ts from her stay in London\, a residency in Paris\, and several visits to
