 of Strictly Jazz Entertainment's "Strictly Jazz" Series will take you on a
  musical journey exploring the music of Betty Carter and Elvin Jones whils
 t also tapping into the original music of J&D Warren. Come enjoy a night o

 \n**ABOUT J&D WARREN**\n\nJ&D Warren Music is co-owned by a husband and wi
 fe duo\, Jeremy and Dermel Warren. Their music encapsulates the essence of
  authenticity and creativity. The duo collectively composes and writes mus
 ic from their hearts — birthed from their spirituality\, which is the dr
 iving force of their inspiration. They genuinely love creating together\, 
 capturing their love for music — and for each other — in their illustr
 ious sound.\n\nThey concluded recording their sophomore album\, Love Never
  Changes. On this album\, J&D Warren collaborated with the great Don Brade
 n\, Jazzmeia Horn\, and Alexis Morrasst.\n\n**ABOUT BETTY CARTER**\n\nBett
 y Carter developed a legendary reputation\, along with Art Blakey\, as one
  of the great mentors for young jazz musicians. Equally legendary was her 
 singing prowess\, creating a distinctive style of improvisation that could
  transcend any song.\n\nCarter's bands served a dual purpose: to create he
 r own great music and to help young musicians develop their craft. Many of
  the musicians who passed through her groups went on to lead their own gro
 ups\, such as Geri Allen\, Stephen Scott\, Don Braden\, and Christian McBr
 ide. She also developed a mentoring program called Betty Carter's Jazz Ahe
 ad through links with organizations like the International Association for
  Jazz Education\, 651 Arts\, and the Kennedy Center. The program was a one
 - to two-week teaching seminar where nationally selected promising young j
 azz musicians learned from Carter and other seasoned musicians\, culminati
 ng in a final concert of instructors and students together. Jazz Ahead was
  one of Carter's proudest achievements\, and she worked with the program u
 p until her death. She received the National Medal of Arts in 1997.\n\n**A
 BOUT ELVIN JONES**\n\nElvin Jones was an American jazz drummer of the post
 -bop era. Most famously a member of John Coltrane's quartet\, with whom he
  recorded from late 1960 to late 1965\, Jones appeared on such albums as M
 y Favorite Things\, A Love Supreme\, Ascension and Live at Birdland. After
  1966\, Jones led his own trio\, and later larger groups under the name Th
 e Elvin Jones Jazz Machine. His brothers Hank and Thad were also celebrate
 d jazz musicians with whom he occasionally recorded. Elvin was inducted in
 to the Modern Drummer Hall of Fame in 1995. In his The History of Jazz\, j
 azz historian and critic Ted Gioia calls Jones "one of the most influentia
