DESCRIPTION:The Kai Fujii Quartet brings together some of Perth's brightes
 t young jazz musicians to perform original music\, standards\, and fresh a
 rrangements inspired by two very different jazz scenes. Kai Fujii is a Jap
 anese-Australian guitarist and composer based in Perth\, and a current WAA
 PA student. He is a member of Belvoir and leads Wisteria\, his own folk al
 ternative side project\, alongside his ongoing work in the Perth jazz scen
 e. Kai recently spent time studying and performing in New York and Tokyo\,
  and draws on what he learned from both scenes to shape wistful arrangemen
 ts and fresh improvisation. The quartet features Lachlan Edinger on keys\,
  Curtis Hardwick on bass\, and Joel Drieberg on drums. Some of the members
  of the band recently returned from the Summer Jazz Arts Collective camp i
 n New York\, an intensive study tour that placed them in direct contact wi
 th some of the most celebrated musicians working in the jazz world today. 
 Fujii will debut original compositions written in direct response to the t
 rip\, taking heavy inspiration from the New York jazz scene and his ongoin
 g engagement with the modern jazz landscape in Tokyo. -- Venue mode for th
