 mber 13\, 2026\n\nLOOMSTATE refers to the condition of a fabric as it come
 s off the loom: warp and weft just recently interlaced\, a system of relat
 ionships between vertical and horizontal just established. The piece isn't
  finished but the terms have been set. The fabric coming off the loom feel
 s like the end of something\, and it is. But it's also a beginning. Weavin
 g is a line and also a loop.\n\nLOOMSTATE asks us to see the reality of a 
 cloth\, but differently animated\; to see the difference between subtle an
 d gross movements\; to see the actions and objects that accumulate around 
 and contribute to the cloth itself. Cloth as starting point and ending poi
 nt. Or just a point.\n\nThe Weaving Mill is an artist-run industrial weavi
 ng studio in Chicago. Working in the space between the hand and industrial
 ly made\, TWM aims to bring the mechanics of textile production into wider
  view. TWM designs and produces fabric-by-the-yard\, clothing and home goo
 ds\, often in small batches\, with a focus on deadstock and thoughtfully-s
 ourced materials. Since 2015\, TWM has developed a unique model blending d
 esign\, production\, research and education\, working with a diverse roste
 r of collaborators across design and fine art. In partnership with social 
 services agency Envision Unlimited\, TWM runs a handweaving program for ad
 ults with developmental disabilities\, hosts an annual artist-in-residence
  program\, and maintains a natural dye and fiber garden and seed library.
