DESCRIPTION:Chile faced widespread undernutrition in the early 1980s. Since
  then\, rising incomes\, increased participation of women in the workforce
 \, and longer commuting times have created greater demand for convenient a
 nd ultra-processed foods. Today\, Chile has one of the highest obesity rat
 es in the world. To address these challenges\, Chile has implemented polic
 ies such as a sugar-sweetened beverage tax and front-of-package food label
 ling. The labelling policy has since inspired similar measures in other co
 untries\, and evaluations of its effects are now available. At the same ti
 me\, fruit and vegetable consumption at home is declining\, single-person 
 households are increasing\, and more food is being consumed away from home
 . In this presentation\, the conference will draw on published research to
  show how Chile is responding to the growing burden of malnutrition and ho
